DECEMBER 2020 End of Year Roundup (2 Viewers)

Thinking I might use the surrender set with the Japanese behind the table and my British in front to fit into my Fall of Singapore dio. Any thoughts?
Robin.

Robin,

I'd check on historical photos from Feb 1942 so see the uniform details of the Japanese, they all seem to be in tropical field dress, not ceremonial. They are seated too, as are the Brits.

Robin...
yes...I concur...
that base on Caeser is thick and clunky...
I would prefer no base at all if his hands are attached to the table making him stable...
if the base must stay...I would at least prefer a regular sized "foot figure base"...
and yes again...
Cleopatra is limited in her diorama poses if she is adhered to that rug...
her sculpt doesn't require a base allowing her to be used in a lot of different ways...

still...either way...
they are great poses and I'm getting them both...

but if it's not too late to modify them...
that's my 2 cents worth...

I think the base on Caesar will be a pleasant surprise when you see it painted, it will be a marble stone effect to replicate the palace floor. It does look really nice, I will try to dig out some photos of the paint samples.
Cleo is going to be supplied separate from the carpet so long as the finished product looks correct, more flexibility than ever before for our girl!
This set looks like its going to be very popular as well as the Korean release, anybody with any more ideas for these that they would like to see please email welcome@gunnclub.co.uk and I will see what we can do.

Best wishes Jack

Love the Caesar/Cleopatra set. I wish Caesar was not wearing breeches, but I can live with it.

Any chance there will be some at rest/non-combat Caesarian Legionaries to go with this set? To make a non-combat Caesar era camp scene?

Also, some regular female Romans would be good to see too as Legion camp followers. Along with some Gallic/German slaves. A group of chained slaves being marched along by a Legionary would go great with your upcoming Ox Cart.

Yep TG would be getting my money if they released Germanic / Celtic civilians and slaves into their Roman range !

Sorry mate, but the base on Caesar doesn't not work regardless of paint scheme, it just doesn't look right and surprised it was even considered.
No matter how good the paint work is it will still look wrong, sorry but I will not buy it with the base. At least it seems the Cleo figure is done right.

My two cents worth on the Caesar base issue is have the base extend to cover the table as well. You would then have a very nice vinaigrette. But then what do I know!

Good idea Gary, we can ask the question about amending base in one way or another, not promising anything but we can try!

The Korean War

This year also marks another anniversary in that its the 70th year since the start of the Korean war in 1950, which incidentally has still not ended!
Once again this is a set that should have made it out of the starting blocks a few months back but for one reason or another (cannot for the life of me think what) has been delayed.
However we are pleased to announce the first of four figures for this series which will be available first quarter of next year.

In it we have four US Marines in fish tail parkas in a winter patrol type scenario, for those of you who remember the Mods from the 1960's this set should be particularly reminiscent!
We hope you like them, the painted samples look superb and should be with us shortly.
This four man patrol set is limited to 100 in number only, pre-order now if these are of interest, which of course we hope they will be.

Judging from the reaction to Cleo I can see there being a few female prisoners in the line up for next year!

Since it seems popular and First Legion's version is sold out, how about giving us Thomas Gunns version of a sexy French Cantiniere for your Napoleonic range as well?

Will TG be making anymore 19th Legion Romans?

Yes i hear they will as there will be a range depicting the Teutoburg Forest battle, including Germanic warriors etc. There were three new sets on this thread.

The Korean set looks great. As for suggestions, how about Vlad III (Dracula) and Wallachia vs Ottomans? The old Impaler has a lot of interesting possibilities.
