Delhi Durbar 1903 diorama (1 Viewer)

Thank you for sharing - I really like your gateway!!! And great diorama - so many different things going on!!! Did you use the other parts of the Britain’s Ampitheatre for any other projects? I occasionally found some pieces from broken Ampitheatre sets which I have collected over the years and hope to put to use in my dioramas.

I got the idea of a Gateway from that Australian sale of over 400 pieces of Marlborough Delhi Durbar i saw a while back. Having bought a Britains broken Amphitheatre for a tenner - the spire on the tower had broken off - I thought I could use it anyway. Not sure I can use any of the other pieces from it though. Thanks for your kind words. Still have so many Marlborough pieces I want for the Delhi Durbar display inc the great Elephant Carriage of course.

I believe the archway you may be referring to is the Marlborough Ganesh Gate that was included in the lot comprising the entire Durbar collection from the Leuralla Toy and Railway museum? I’m the proud owner of that collection! :) That Ganesh Gate archway looks like it is was formed of two archways stuck together as it is double sided.

The Leuralla sale didn’t advertise that they were going to include all the boxes too, which was a nice surprise. About a year later they had a follow up sale which comprised of mostly empty boxes but also more interesting for me was the inclusion of Durbar set 102 which just comprises a clump of bamboos. I was annoyed that wasn’t just included in the original lot but since I had everything else and I’ve never seen D102 anywhere else I purchased that lot too!

If you got the arches that form the backdrop of the Britain’s amphitheater when you purchased the broken dome section and don’t have any use for it then I would be interested in buying the arches from you.

I note you are still looking for Durbar sets. I am currently sorting through my collection as I have completely run out of space and have too many duplicates. I expect to be able to start selling the surplus pieces towards end of July/early August. I’ll let you know.

Wow. What a fantastic collection to have! Must have cost a fortune with all the shipping as well. I recall seeing the lump of bamboo in the catalogue of Marlborough I have and thinking how odd. You'd never find it if it didnt come with its box because no dealer would know what it was of.
Let me know exactly which bits you need and I'll parcel them up. Just pay for the postage.

Hi, thank you!!! It did cost a fortune to ship plus customs duties but at that point I wanted a full collection of Durbar figures and I could not pass on the opportunity!

That’s very kind of you to offer the remaining parts of your ampitheatre! I’ll send you a PM.

With best wishes

Hi Arnie,

this is looking fantastic. I allways enjoy Dioramas with real Toy Soldiers. Nice variety, colorful and remarkable peaceful. Very well done.
