Delhi Durbar/Indian Army various makes (3 Viewers)

Hi KV,

Who is in that one? I've seen a lot of the Indian Army films but cant remember that one so I may have missed it. I recall one with Tyrone Powers but can remember the name.

I have been thinking that i should post a few titles on the war film list.

We'll see.

Hope all is well down your way no exploding mugs tonight

Ahhhh, Dave, you have delivered again. To quote Gomer, "Thank you, thank you, thank you."

My best,

Jae

Life of a Bengal Lancer is on my netflix list. Dave you are a very, very, methodical man.

A little off the subject, but have you seen the original "Four Feathers?" I caught it on cable very late one night and it was one of the most beautiful films. I couldn't believe it was made in the thirties. Great battle scenes, at least to a novice like myself.

My best,

Jae

Hi Jae,

Glad to help with the reading list. The Movie you mentioned is without a doubt my absolute favorite (well at least one of them) I have seen all the versions and I will tell you that the 1939 UK version is tops for me especially with its cast of thousands of Fuzzies I bet that was interesting to cast...

I have more time today to delve deeper into the Durbar books and should be able to recommend a few more later.

All the best

Dave

or Korda’s The Drum(unfortunately, one of Hitler’s favorite films), starring Sabu with Roger Livesey(“Col. Blimp”) and Valerie Hobson-John Profumo’s future wife.

Hi All

Here are some comparison photos of Britains and Marlborough and Beau Geste Figures. I was asked to provide a comparison of the height of the figures and thought a photo was the best method to do this so here they are. Please let me know what you think.

All the best

Dave

Hi Dave,

I believe I have made my opinion available to you via e-mail. However, I will restate it here.

As I have viewed similar figures in my own collection, I have chosen to display my Beau Geste figures separately. I freely mix the Britains and the Marlborough figures, but the Beau Geste figures are noticibly taller and bulkier than Britains and Marlborough ones. If you look at the eye level of the Marlborough figure to the left of your Beau Geste figure, you will see a fair difference in height. Also, examine the base of the three figures. You will notice that the Beau Geste figure has a much thicker base which adds to the perception of height. While I think you can get away with mixing the figures, I choose not to do so as I am keenly aware of the differences. Fortunately, I have enough figures from all three companies to construct two separate displays.

I also think you can sometimes utilize perceptual strategies to minimize the visual effect of the height differences. For example, I presently have my set of the Britains Hunting Cheetahs displayed next to my Beau Geste Elephant. As you would expect the size of the elephant to dwarf the cheetahs, you do not notice the slight scale difference. But, to do this throughout a large display might be a significant challenge.

My recommendation is to experiment with mixing the figures and determine what you like. With figures like these, it is almost impossible to go wrong no matter how you decide to display them! :D

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

I like them all! Can I have them?;) Pat is probably right. That being said I do not have the room to display them separately. So I will be mxing them up any ways.

Gentle Friends,

Posting my picture of the Britains elephants seemed to work smoothly. Let me try another. If I succeed, you should see the Gold and Silver Guns of Geakwar of Baroda. Both sets were produced by W. Britains.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat
Does the silver gun come with the gold cradle and limber?

Hi Vamp,

As Dave confirms, yes, the silver gun comes with the gold cradle and limber. You are safe from my bidding. I already have this set in my collection. Best of luck with your bidding! I hope you get it. Let us know the outcome!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat
