Hi all,
I'm new here but I have just recently started a Durbar collection and I was wondering what would be the best company to use, I have pieces from tradition a maker in london, but I just was wondering what would be a good company for Durbar.

thanks,
Mitch

Hi Mitch,

Welcome to the forum! I think you will find participating on the forum to be fun, entertaining, and informative. I know I have really benefited from being here and participating on this forum has made be a better collector!

While I do not collect Dehli Durber (only due to budgetary constraints), I view the various sets with a sense of awe. Presently, in addition to retired W. Britains, I enjoy the sets produced by Beau Geste. Also, I think it is well worth your time to consider those sets produced by William Hocker. If you need web addresses for these manufacturers, let me know and I will supply them.

If you are handy with a digital camera, I would very much enjoy seeing pictures of your growing collection. Please keep us informed concerning your collecting interests!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Pat,

Thanks again,
Mitch

If any1 knows where I can get my hands on britains set #0083-Imperial Cadet Corps please tell me

Thanks,
Mitch

Marlborough is great and there were other series by Shamus Wade - more limited in number - called Nostalgia and Star. A number of the folks here have bought some of these sets from me and, I'm sure, can elaborate more.

There is nothing like a large Durbar display. That kind of presentation must have been awesome to see in its day.

Hi Mitch,

There arent too many folks that collect the Durbar series over here so I am always glad to meet another collector. If there is a set of Imperial Cadets available it will probably be at the London Bridge Collector Toy Store in Emmaus Pennsylvania the phone number is 610-967-6887. Call thema see if they have it. They are also very well priced and wont break the bank.

I have a very large collection of Durbar sets from Britains, Marlborough and Shamus Wade. I am very close to completing the entire Britains series and will be looking at Beau Geste very soon. You can also find these sets on ebay so keep an eye out there. What sets do you have so far? Post some pictures if you get a chance and if you have any questions on this line please ask because if I dont know the answer I probably know someone who does.

I have posted a few pictures in the forum and will probably post some more since I have picked up few sets since the last photo session. Have a good one and I look forward to chatting with you.

Dave

Dave,

Thanks for the help I will call London Bridge and see if they have a set available.

From,
Mitch

Thats great. I hope they can help.

I have picked up a nice set from Marlborough. Waiting for them to arrive. Its half of the Bengal Lancers set I'm working on the other half right now so hopefully they will come thru in a week or so.

Have you checked ebay and seen the various Britains Elephants up for bid? They are pretty nice and really add a flair to the series. Plus the prices are good.

Let hear some more about what you are looking for or already have.

Dave

Mitch,

I second Dave's motion. I, too, would like to hear more about what you have and what you are looking for.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

May I throw my bid in for Marlbourgh as well? I own some earlier Britain sets with a very high gloss and I like them very much:D I spent around a hundred for the imperial cadet corp about a year ago.

Guys,

I can not thank you enough for all of the help but right now I am just mostly looking for some bengal sets. I will check ebay though. I am going to toronto on the 6th and will be back on the 18th and I know some dealers there so I will probaly get my sets there.

Thanks again,
Mitch

Hi guys,

Just thought I would share that I just picked up two very nice sets from Marlborough off ebay. The 17th Bengal Lancers D22,23. Very happy about them and of course they are already in the mix. I may have to look into some shelves to hold the overflow now. Anyone else pick up some sets?

Dave

Not recently, but, I have to check the shop some new stuff/discontinued stuff came in. Gonna scour it with the fine tooth comb. Extra long fang style:eek: MUAHhahhahhahhaaaaa.....

Hi Guys I was messing around with the camera the other day and took some shots of the Durbar diplay so here they are.

Hi again,

Yes it is its the Duke and Duchess of Connaught on the State Elephant. Number 08956 came out in 98. It is one of the two "Imperial" State Elephants that were escorted by the Guards with the 16 foot pikes. I also have the other "Imperial" Elephant done by Britains but my wife is holding it in her birthday/christmas stash as she got the package before I got home. So I have all of the Britains Elephants and one from Marlborough. I am saving up for a couple of the elephants from Beau Geste but that will take a while unless one pops up on ebay for a good price.

Dave
