I have picked up a few DP ...MAW...figures ....id by the books they are sold with.....the figures vary a lot in style...some are chunky...some well done...some average.....I have read somewhere on this forum that K&C did at one time make DP figures.....if so......does anyone know if K&C made any of the MAW figures ?...some of the figure's are really well done and would compare well with K&C at a fraction of the cost of their K&C counterparts.......does anyone have any info ?...cheers TomB

There is a lot of variation in quality between series and sometimes within series, for Del Prado. I think of the Prussian cuirassier officer at Leuthen as an example of a very good sculpt, and compare that to their WWI German lieutentant, which is an awful figure, in my opinion, more like an old Stadden or Hinton Hunt figure from the 50s in terms of its proportions and the definition of the sculpt.

The info about K&C's link with Del Prado is around here somewhere, but I can't remember where.

I think many of us agree that Del Prado figures are good raw material for kitbashing, because you can get them so cheaply on the secondary market, and many of them look very good alongside K&C or Frontline, or others.

Prost!

Thanks for that....over the past 12 months I have picked up about 20 DP figures from the local flea market...I was more interested in the books that went with the figures but I have grown to like the figures for the variety of sculpts styles which I am interested in....the only other metal figures I have are ALH from WETS...would have loved to have collected more of the Aust Army series from WETS and some other very interesting figures but sadly WETS finished with the untimely loss of Graig.......thanks for the info...TomB

Recently like a ts addicted i switched (due to the cost of other brands) my focus on DP figures.I bought the odd figure, from various collection by DP.I think (and am nearly sure) that all MAW series is made by K&C , they mirror the evolution in style (look at the british para that goes pefectly well with the early arnhem releases) , so early figures are chunky and late figures are well sculpted and akin to the new K&C style. Also the firemen of the world is made by K&C sculptors (you can check on the K&C site), and Medieval Napoleonic range too (mounted and dismounted)and some of the beautiful Samurais.Emilio from the brand Kronprinz sculpted the Cavalry through the age series and also West , American Civ. War , Ancient Rome and the first 2 90mm Napoleonic miniatures(Murat & Uxbridge).I have the honour of call him my friend and he always complains that the master are not well rendered by the chinese manifacture, specially the horses..and the painting too is not so good as the KP miniatures but the dinamism is great. He is a great artisan and artist.I love the Leuthen cuirassier too..great pose, taken directly from the Osprey book.

Thank you...an interesting post...the evolution in style would explain the difference figures over the period.......thanks for that.....cheers TomB
