I just purchased the desert Stuka and what a great model. Unfortunately, there was a black paint splotch on the fuselage just behind the rear gun. Does anyone know what paint manufacturer Figarti uses to paint their models?
What I need is the paint number. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Fran

Fran...

I have repainted many Figarti and the paint they use or, that I find is identical for their sets is Vallejo. I think they marks you mention are actually an attempt to weather the aircraft as I have seen a number of Stuka's with similar all over them.

If it were me I would gently use some alcohol ink and a small sponge to remove the black and then if necessary which, I would think you could actually get away with not repainting. The colour I used in a recent touch up not changing black but for a bit of damage, was desert yellow. I cannot remember the code for the paint but, will post it when I get home.

Mitch,

Thanks for the info. I don't think the black splotch was an attempt at weathering unless they were trying to indicate a spilled can of paint.

I work in a chem lab and have access to all types of alcohols unfortunately non you can drink. Could you clarify what alcohol ink is.

Thanks for the help,

Fran

Fran..

I use a product from the crafters world called Adirondack alcohol ink Tim Holtz is the crafter who as his name on it and its made by Ranger. Its a clear liquid and should be readily available in the US as its a US company.

Its powerful stuff so, a little on a strong tissue but, better is a cotton bud and some gentle rubbing will take it off. I use it to strip the white of AFV's when wintering them and removing decals from models. Its multi purpose. I can't suggest anything else as I have only ever used this product. I am sure there will be others but, I like this one
