I found a Regiments of the World "MARS" box set labeled "Black Watch Highlanders Marching Band Full Dress". This set is not listed in his catalog. Also to me it appears to be a recast since the base is marked on many of the figures "England Copyright" and they appear to be solid core figures. The only thing I can figure is they made this set for someone that wanted this particular Band? Any insight on this would be appreciated.

Hello Captainsimos,
The iconic firm W. Britains Ltd produced three sets, Numbers 2109 (20 pieces), 2179 (9 pieces), and 9435 (20 pieces) all titled, Highland Pipe Band of the Black Watch. They were produced from 1956 to 1965, in the Regiments of All Nations series.

About 20 years ago I painted a set of castings made by Dorset Soldiers of the band of the Black Watch after their return from Iraq in 2003.

The collector wanted that band in camouflage uniform which was what they wore on their return parade.

I know that this is a pipe band but thought you' like to see it.

Another set of casting I painted is String Ensemble from the Black Watch which would have played a mess dinner.

Casting from John Eden.
