I have a huge interest in the Vietnam war and intend on buying every thing K&C produces in regards to the U.S. involvement. In regards to the earlier French involvement I would have zero interest in buying anything. When you speak of the war in Vietnam what is the first thing that comes to everyones mind? The U.S.A. and North Vietnam. Only as an off shoot and in regards to U.S. involvement does the French and Viet Minh come into the equation. Same for making S. Korean and Australian troops in Vietnam. You will have to go way down the line before I would want to buy any of those. Just my humble opinion.

Gary,

I’m not sure I understand. Vietnam’s history from ancient times until the present is fascinating and you can’t understand Vietnam unless you do understand the history. For Vietnamese the War had been going since the 1800s. I for one would love to see a DBF range or subrange even if very limited.

Hi Rudi,
Simon Murray was one of K&C's very first customer/collectors in Hong Kong!
At the time, 1986, Simon was the 'Tai Pan' of Hutchison, one of Hong Kong's leading companies and happened to come into our first K&C shop and see some of our earliest French Foreign Legion figures that were dressed in the parade uniforms of the late 1950's and early '60's...The approximate time he himself served in the Legion.

He bought a whole bunch there and then and subsequently returned a few weeks later to buy more and some other items.

Because of his work and many business commitments around the world we only see each other rarely however just last week he came into our Pacific Place store in HK and left a friendly little note saying he had visited and was happy to see business was going well!

He's a terrific guy and a great story-teller with plenty of wonderful adventures both in and out of the Legion...

For a special Birthday a few years back his wife, without him knowing, invited his former Regimental Colonel plus three of his old mates from the Legion to journey over from France to his home in England for the celebrations!!! They had not met up for more than 30 years.

As I said he's a great guy and great to know.
All the best, Andy.

Hi Andy, yes I thought you'd know him given his Hong Kong connections and background ! That's a great story, thanks.
Yes he mentions the reunion at the end of his great book.
What a character, a polar explorer too ! His radio interview on "desert island discs" is well worth listening to for a glimpse into his character and background. A no nonsense but charismatic man.

Brad, it's not that I don't know the history of Vietnam it is just the fact that I would have no interest in buying figures for those previous conflicts in Vietnam. That's all there is to it.
