Hello all,
anyone know of or have a program that a collector could use to track and and record collections? Although it would be generally easy to track going forward, has anyone ever built something like this? Im not going to lie, a ledger book is cool and fun too, but an excell spread sheet with pics must have been doen by someone at sometime.
Any thoughts on the subject?

I use an Excel spreadsheet. It has columns for the bin # where the empty box is stored, manufacturer, item number, item name, cost, # of figures in the set, and a link to a photo of the item, which I store on my laptop. That way I can sort it as needed. From time to time I total up the costs and the # of figures, then delete it before my wife sees it!

that sounds great. can you Pm a screen shot? Have you ever considered adding photos to help with getting figures back to boxes? do you mark the bottom of your figures with the box or item number? Do you hve somehting you can toake to shows in cse you need to double check if you already have something or not?

Thanks For replying

Hello hsm aka GL,
Have tried to post this reply at least a half dozen times. Frustrated by both my own apparent lack of computer skills, and the forum's various protocols/idiosyncrasies, unsuccessfully. Also use Excel. Cells left to right as follows. Obviously use more, less or different. Mine were chosen, as core collection is W. Britains Ltd.

Here's a screen shot. The Photo column has a cross-reference link to a photo of the figure, which is stored in the same folder as the spreadsheet. Clicking it displays the photo. I'm not perfect at keeping this up and forget from time to time to add a figure.

Adding a label to the base would have been a great idea, but there's too many to start now. Wish I'd thought of it then.

I store the spreadsheet in my Google drive, so if I need to check on a figure at a show I can look it up on my phone.

Take care.

There was a Canadian forum years ago that started a collection program but the forum shut down not long after they started it.

I use a word file that lists the range, number and item.

I have several docs, one for K & C and other makers.
