Hey Greg, that is just crazy wonderful .... wow ... I've been looking at it for 30 min and find all sort great ideas.
Gotta' love your water with ripples and waves. Ground work is outstanding.

The "TWO" tier case / diorama is brilliant ....^&grin

Look forward to more.

Hello Greg,

truly a nice diorama - great subject and a fantastic scene you have created here.
Kind Regards

Well thankyou all indeed, your interest is appreciated. In response to your questions, firstly the dimensions of cabinet are 1800 long 660 wide 1100 high in millimetres. The cabinet is solidly built with two sliding doors at back. There are three brackets supporting two glass shelves, one at either end,one in the middle. These are locked into channels.I have widened these brackets by glueing aluminium angle to them. The brackets extend nearly to front of cabinet.I reckon this would have been a cake display cabinet at the time, carrying more weight than I have on shelves at moment.I bought the cabinet at a auction where they had about 4 for sale.I should have bought another but they were so big and bulky to transport. The water is made from a product called realistic water by woodland scenics made in usa.
I would like to say I got my inspirations and ideas from forum members like Franxinus and Mike Miller and that's what it is all about, sharing in this great hobby.Regards Greg.

That a nice BIG display case.I too thought it was a aquarium.I have a aquarium but its only 24x12x18 (609x305x457).Much smaller than yours.I wondered how you got all that in there.:D

Hello Mark,I have enjoyed your contributions to the forum over the years.Nice to have a interest in a common period in history.I have interests in lots of different eras and hope to display them soon.Regards Greg.

Welcome to the forum Greg.Even though I mainly just collect FIW now I've collected Romans,Vikings,ACW,Plains Indian Wars,British and French late 19th cen, colonial armies,Seminole Wars. Some were large 1/32-1/30 figures but also 15mm & 28mm.I also get figure kits and have them painted up.

WOW!!!

A glass display case that is 70 inches long plus x 23.5 inches deep. Totally brilliant idea of using a dry bakery display case (googling frenzy as I type).

Hello gents,My collection consists of napoleon, zulu, fiw, medieval, greeks and persians, roman, vikings and australian light horse.Might purchase mephisto and some Gallipoli in near future. My problem is that iam spread over to many areas.I cannot keep up.Regards Greg.

Great work Greg.

JJD Woodlands Indians (and Jacobites) for me are simply some of the most beautiful pieces out there in the hobby as a whole.
Put them into a wonderfully crafted dio like this and they become a work of art......

best
Andrew
:salute::{bravo}}

Hello Andrew,I agree with what you said.I like john Jenkins because they are solid chunky figures also nicely painted and have different expressions on their faces.I was greatly tempted with the Jacobite series but went other ways.I am sorry I never collected them.Ah well you can't have it all.Regards Greg.

I know what you mean Greg about diversifying into too many ranges. My core was always ACW & AZW ( I have pretty much everything K&C, TCS, Britains & Conte ever produced for these periods) plus selected JJD FIW, Jacobites & Sudan as some smaller dio pieces. But in last 2 years I have had serious mission creep into WW2, and now find my mancave surrounded with battles in Berlin, Dunkirk, Arnhem & Normandy....**** that ebay!

anyway heres my " last stand on the Monongahela" effort which I posted about 6 months ago. not as impressive as your great dio, but a compact piece with some depth I think.

last one........ all the best Greg and looking forward to seeing some other JJD dios in the future.

Hello Andrew,I remember your diorama and it inspired me when I was doing mine.I like the background and there is enough action and colour to stimulate one's passion for our hobby.I think I can remember aspects of your mancave as well. You should reshow that as i know myself and other collectors would like to see how that is going.
Nice to hear from you Andrew and have a great year ahead.Regards Greg.

Greg,

This is an exceptional set up you have here. I love the whole scene and can tell that you put in lots of time putting it all together.

Great job and please share more dio's in the future!

Mark

Thanks Mark,I struggled with the setout trying to make things fit.I actually had the fort down the other end but didn't like the look of it.The rangers are not in fighting pose, so I had to incorporate them some way.I had the boats so I decided to put them on a lake hidden by forest. The next diorama will be easier,a column of soldiers sreadout being attacked.I hope JD brings out a new canoe to make the river scene more interesting.
Once again, thanks for your comments.Regards Greg.

After many years of just 'monitoring' this Forum, there is a lot of talent on it, and a person can learn a lot, and the members are extremely helpful.

For years, I have thought "Mike Miller" and "Diorama" were synonyms...his stuff is great !

Some more photos of lesser quality that didn't make first cut.

Still great photos. Love the village setting as a back drop to the river. Robin.
