Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a nice Christmas. Have a diorama idea that I wanted to discuss with more seasoned builders.

Has anyone on here put together a diorama with a marchers on a conveyor belt or similar?

Where would they go? Round in circles round a palace or something?

Certainly it can be done. There have been commercial displays that used such techniques.

A conveyor band with its drive and pivot mounted on horizontal axes is one method; you'd need to make sure the figures are attached as securely as possible.

Another is to use a conveyor whose drive and pivot mounted on vertical axes. The conveyor runs in a plane, instead of over/under. Flat bars or slats are attached to the belt or chain, and the figures are attached to the flat pieces.

I've never attempted such a mechanism, though, so I can't really offer any advice.

Prost!

Do you have any examples of commercial displays?

Good idea about the vertical orientation!
