Making dios is funny, interesting and it can also be a way to attract girls/women' s attention on you ( if you can make nice ones:p).
In fact, even if women usually like other things, when a dio is well done and realistic, it will attract their attention and you will look like someone having a kind of "artistic" skill....
That' a another reason to make nice dios {sm4}

Hmmm, you better send said Ladies to Oz then as they are most unusual, sure it's not your aftershave or good looks? dioramas don't work here!........:wink2:
Wayne.

I have tended to rely on wit and charm ... but that's just me!

I have always found that women tend to bill and coo over figures or groups that have kids, kittens or pups with them. On repeated occasions at shows wives have turned to their husbands and said "Buy that one for me, never mind what you want" , very good for sales as the bloke usually bought the extra figure for her and then bought yet another figure for himself in addition to what he had already earmarked. Great!! Trooper

my wife made this for me, while I was painting-
if you have been living in a cave, its Ryan Gossling, one of the recent movie heart throbs, and from my town here.

Can one of you wise old men please enlighten this poor college student on how exactly he is supposed to pick up girls using his dioramas, because so far it hasn't worked........

I don' t mean to pick up girls by showing a diorama ; of course it needs much more than that! I mean that this can be a subject of conversation and she can appreciate you skill in making dios....

Women don't necessarily dislike military-related displays. So long as they are tasteful and well done, I've found that my wife is open to incursions into her domain. In particular, the items can't take over the space that they occupy. Rather, "she who must be obeyed" insists on some simple rules:

1) Display cases have to form something of a "comfortable harmony" with other furniture in areas of the home that they occupy.

2) Proportion is very important to Sherri. Excess is a vice, economy a virtue.

3) The whole assemblage had better-by-golly be kept neat and clean, in a museum state, if you will.

4) Quality is very important to my gal. Interestingly enough, she doesn't care for plastic kits being on display. However, having tens of thousands of $$$ of metal items is perfectly alright, so long as points 1-3 are adhered to. As for the plastic kits, they go right inside along with the other mediums. She's none the wiser, for she is forbidden to touch models inside of my display cases.

Do what I did at university.

Be yourself. Do not change for anyone. Do not compromise on any issue, large or small. Believe that your way is the right way.

It was an abject failure but I certainly had plenty of time for sport!{sm4}
