Hey guys,

Got the new Disturbed album this weekend. They have definitely kicked it up a notch. If you like your music sizzling, well, you just might like this.

Here is a song titled "Never Again". It is on the Nazis and the holocaust.

Having listened to a lot of metal with my son, this doesn't sound that heavy to me although the song doesn't do much for me.

Try some death metal Mike if you want heavy and report back to me :D

For starters, try this one from Arch Enemy and its high priestess Angela.

Gotta take a pass Brad...:D

it doesn't push my buttons...

I'm a classic rock guy...

My son exposed me to the world of death metal too, Brad, and all the various genres and sub-genres therein. My gosh!!!, and I thought the stuff I was listening to as a kid was harsh (and I was listening to the hardest stuff around at the time). I mean the stuff these death metal bands are playing and the pace they are playing it at is unreal. And the vocals....they usually don't even sound human. (I actual saw Arch Enemy w/ Angela live opening for Iron Miaden in 2005; she actually sounds like that live. A few people around us could not believe that the vocalist was female.) I guess the kids these days will be saying the same things we're saying now when they have their own kids who develop their own brand of extreme metal. BTW, did you happen to catch the short Saturday Night Live death metal skit w/ Betty White? It was on the last time she hosted the show, and it was a riot. Joe

No Sir. Don't care for it. At all. Now where did my Beatle's and Dean Martin LP's go .... :D -- Al

Sorry, but it is a generational secret. Only those familier with the operation of a rotary dial telephone are allowed to know the secret.:D:p:rolleyes:;) -- Al

I think I saw one of these 'rotary phones' once. The museum I was in displayed it very well!:D

Back on topic, thanks for the heads-up Darrell. Been looking forward to this album for a while. I really enjoyed Indestructible, so this should be even better.

That's way tooooo funny!! :D:D

Hey Darrell- my wife and kids got it for my birthday over labor day- that's a great song- especially since Dan is Jewish and his family lost members in the Holocaust. Tracks 4-6 are easily the best on the album imo- Warrior, Another Way to Die and Never Again. Overall, not a bad album but not their best- pick up 10,000 fists if you haven't already- easily the best in their collection.

I recently purchased this album and on first listen it didn't do a lot for me. It has since grown on me after a few more listens.

I find it interesting that many people seem to get locked into music of their youth, both from a genre and period perspective. My mother-in-law always talks about big band music while others I know talk about "classic rock", whatever that is. Perhaps it's because my youth was during the tail end of Disco and into the early 80's but I simply have no affiliation with any particular genre or period. This has been a real positive for me as it has opened a vast catalogue of music to explore, from Bach through System of a Down.

Agreed on all points. the CD isn't one of their best and it certainly gets a little repetitive though there are some gems in there. Also got the new Iron Maiden CD and Five Finger Death Punch- great stuff there- the new Maiden CD- decent songs- no run to the hills in there but each song is like 7-9 minutes long- it's like getting a double CD.
