I'd also love to see some Aussie M113s, Centurions and even a FSV (aka Beast) made.

A dio of something like the Battle of Coral would look rather good.

Mick

Guys,
I am in, if it went Aussie. ^&grin Just think of the M113 family of vehicles. M113A1 with the T50 turret, FSV with the Saladin 76mm turret, the mortar vehicle, the fitters track, the command vehicle, etc. and don't forget the magnificent CENTURION Tank with its dozer version, bridgelayer and ARV recovery vehicle.
I'm beginning to sound like John Gambale.
Even though Vietnam isn't really a long range Military history yet (only 40 years ago) it has a huge range (both US and Oz) of Armour and figures that could be made. Would it sell? Well thats the sixty four million dollar question.
I too would also like to see the Iraeli Wars with its vast array of Armour, but this too may be to young as to be considered Military History from a TS point of view.
We can only wait patiently.^&grin
Cheers Howard

Yes a firebase would be great, seeing that K&C has already made an M2A1 105mm Howitzer, it would only need a small retool and then make some hot a swaety gunners to produce the scene.

Suppose we also need more 'grunts' too ???

John

I collect mostly K&C American Revolution and JJD War of 1812, so that indicates my area of interest. Right or wrong, most of the wars that the US has fought have been viewed as a glorious undertaking or to save the world from EVIL.

Once again, right or wrong, the Vietnam War and the Korean War are not viewed by many folks as either. Although, I agree 100% that the soldiers who fought so bravely and proudly in Vietnam and Korea should be honored, I doubt that K&C or any other TS vendor would consider it a sound investment.

Yes, I would definitely collect vietnam war. It is an old cliche' that soldiers fight for each other - the politics don't matter in a firefight. There are many compelling battles (e.g., Tet/Hue) and iconic vehicles used in vietnam that would make interesting dios, e.g., NVA BMP's, Patton M48s and M113s. Same goes for Korea and Iraq; I have most of what Figarti has produced for these conflicts but there are few vehicles except for the new Figarti M1A1 and Stryker (btw these are excellent). I would love to see a M48 with snorkel or M26 Pershing from Korean war.

Frank,
You must remember that politicians start wars but soliders fight them and try and finish them. I think all combat vets who fort in their countries uniforms under their countries flag should be PROUD. It was a disgraceful war but that was not the fault of the combatants, but the bloody politicians.
I punched out a Uni student at that time for spitting on my uniform and I ordered a colour party guard, of which I was the party commander to fix bayonets and protect the colours during a student anti war demostration. Nobody was going to destroy my Regiments and Australian Colours. Didn't do my military career that much good at the time but gave me a warm feeling inside.
Vietnam was not a good conflict but from a TS point of view it as I posted before had a great range of AFVs and I for one would collect in multiples.
Cheers Howard

Howard, Spitting on a soldiers uniform or the US Flag is unacceptable behaviour for any American........But that "war" (Vietnam) was a **** DISGRACE...Political Manipulation...PLAIN and SIMPLE....The anti-war demonstrations of that period were not without "JUST CAUSE".....Furthermore I for one and many others would not collect anything related to that conflict....The American Public "lied to"....and...Civilians and Soldiers killed for no good reason.....Cheers Frank

A resouding YES!!!! for me. I have a lot of good friends who are Vietnam Vets, like my buddy Rick Spinelli (in my wedding party - two tours in Vietnam), Doug Luna (a major collector from the left coast), and our good friend Chuck Harris. I think its about time we treated our Vietnam and Korean War veterans as well as the veterans from other, more popular wars, and commemorated their courage and sacrafices in our collections along side WWI, WWII and Gulf War veterans.

I Totally agree with you Louis :salute::

I am in agreement and will be interested in collecting them. I collect TS becuase I find the period, uniforms, vehicles, and weapons interesting. I would like to see how K&C can do an updated Huey.

Frank - Most wars were fought for "no good reason." WWI is a great example, they are still arguing over how that started and ended up with almost 17 million dead. I think that the comments on timeliness hit the nail on the head when memories of the horror of the conflict is still fresh. The vietnam conflict is too recent for many, with many forum members knowing a VN Vet. As an example, look at the toy soliders made in the 1920s to 1930s by Barclay/Manoil. Most, if not all, of them represented post or pre-WWI soldiers. I have never seen or heard of a Barclay/Manoil German produced prior to WWII. The 1920/30s vets recalling stories of posion gas, flamethrowers, whole companies killed in useless charges to gain a few hundred yards of ground probably prevented it. Yet, with no recent accounts, many now collect WWI with little or no hesitation.

Robert E. Lee " It is well that war is so terrible... or we should grow too fond of it."

As an American I honor vietnam vets and are PROUD OF THEM. I think KC should
expand in the Vietnam.

I work with a vietnam veteran on a daily basis. He is 63 years old now.He takes pride in his time over there as this is what his country had asked him to do. With todays level of quality, sculpting, painting they would look great!!!
Me personally I do not find anything wrong with a Vietnam series so long as it comes.......... After the Russians {sm3}

No interest for me. It was a divisive period in our country's history and it's best to leave certain things alone. Now, you can say that the Civil War was divisive but VN happened less than 50 years ago.

Well, that makes one of us. BRING IT ON!

Huey, M113, M48, etc. yeah, that would be cool!

yes of course after the russians, hahaha

WWII ended with victory for the Allies. So why do so many Germans sell? They lost quite badly leaving their country in total ruin. ^&confuse

This is a very strong point, and it makes you think. I have quite a few German soldiers and vehicles myself, as well as a handful of medals and badges I picked up many years ago, but I despise everything about what Germany did in WWII. Yeah, they had good technology and interesting vehicles, but it is kind of odd that collectors are so into the Germans; not necessarily wrong but just odd. I think for anyone interested in a display showing different periods of US military history, right or wrong, the Vietnam war would be interesting and offers some good possibilities, such as nicely done helicopters. I can certainly see why some would not want these, however, because certainly the war was a very different experience for our country. It would be kind of like trying to sell Civil War figures in 1880, or as someone else mentioned, WWI figures shortly after that war.

hat would be great would be a Special Forces "A Team". I would dedinitely be a buyer. Larry.

I'ld rather see a more modern series such as Iraq, Afganistan where every day many brave men and women serve for our freedom - and much too often pay the ultimate price.

Oliver

Whatever your political sensibilities are I don't think K&C has ever shyed away from creating a series because the content was politically controversial (e.g. LAH). From a business sense the series likely hasn't been revived because they think its not viable. I would say creating a limited series would sell but I'm not sure K&C would make enough $ to make it worth their while otherwise I think it would have been done long ago.
From my point of view I wouldn't collect it as modern wars are not an area of interest for me however I think Viet-Nam is popular enough (judging from the huge E-bay prices people pay for this old stuff) to give it a go. There is no question that despite fighting an unpopular war with questionable strategy that the soldiers who fought it were as brave and sacrificed as much as any other soldier who has dawned the uniform and thus deserves our respect and gratitude like any other vet.

Some Aussie M113's and Centurions would be good and I think would be welcomed by those who served in them and others.

Regards
Brett

I see your point but the war ended April 30, 1975 .... 36 years ago. Yes, I would love to see the Aussies participation and believe it or not, yes even the South Koreans.

However, I'd settle for a good ole US G.I.s, Marines and Special Forces. Maybe even sneak in a F-4. Okay, I'm dreaming, LOL.
