I do a bit of free-lancing for a couple of movie magazines-they send me a few DVD pre-releases every month and I write a hundred words or so on each of the movies. The majority of them are major studio films with a sprinkling of dross which are a bit of a pain to sit through and review-but it pays well.

Last night I viewed a Norwegian movie called Dod Sno (Dead Snow) with an English dubbed soundtrack-I had read about this previously during it's run at this years Sundance Festival-viewers could not get a ticket for love nor money due to the movies reputation by word of mouth.

What's it about-no laughing at the back-a bunch of kids taking an Easter break up in the snow-laden Norwegian fjords and find a hoard of gold coins-which wait for it-are being guarded by a bunch of dead Nazis who tried to escape with their hoard at the end of the war but died in the attempt-yup! Nazi Zombies. But I gotta tell you guys it's a great movie and you WWII collectors I guarantee will love it (and that includes my old mate Rob)-it has great humor although definitely not a comedy and goes way beyond the nods to all those other Romero Undead type movies we tend to discard. It also has some pretty scary moments-there is something about a Nazi coming at you let alone a dead one coming at you.

I have no idea of release dates for the DVD here or stateside but as I had to review it-it must be imminent. Rent it out for a night you will enjoy it and those uniforms still look pretty good especially when the're frozen.

Oh! Yeah it also has one of the best tag lines for a movie I have seen for a long time-Ein-Zwei-Die!

I believe this film is based on an unpublished story by Jane Austen about the French invasion of Russia during the Napoleonic Wars. During the retreat from Moscow French officers buried gold in the snow which ever since has been protected by the ghosts of Napoleon's army. Austen's working title was "Greed and Avarice". The current cult bestseller below was inspired by Austen's interest in the living dead evidenced by this story.

My apologies to Combat and the rest of you guys-re posting another thread on top of the original-I most definitely suffered a severe senile moment by not associating this film with Combats thread-
I am a real Doh!

I had enjoyed the movie so much I just threw my comments on here without realising that it had already been discussed in depth as Norwegian Babes-It ain't going to win any oscars but it's passes an enjoyable 90 minutes or so. Sorry guys I promise to check the threads in future :D
