Do K&C outsource painting -- or do they have their own little paintshop set up on the mainland?

Dear 54mm,

K&C has sculptors and painters in Hong Kong, and a design studio with painters in China that both produce prototypes, but actual production of its figures and vehicles is outsourced to several factories in China. These factories also produce many of the painted souvenirs that you see at a tourist destination.:)

Hi Stephen -- I'm looking for a factory who can provide painting for religious figurines at the same quality level as K&C. Could you provide any contacts?

My email is 54ATaliensuns.com if you would like to email me directly!
Thanks,
54

Hi Guys,

Re “54mm’s” question about “outsourcing”...K&C use 5 factories in China on a regular basis for production (casting and painting) of our figures...buildings...and vehicles.

Alas, we own none of them — they are all independently owned by Chinese Nationals.

We do, however, have our own sculpting studio with six highly skilled, highly talented artists who, in my opinion, do superb work.

We have two teams of great “master” painters both here in head office in HK and in China. Not sure if that qualifies as “our own little paint-shop”? And we’ve got my younger brother Gordon who produces outstanding displays and dioramas for K&C ourselves and special collectors.

To my knowledge only Figarti actually have their own factory in Shanghai as Rick and James have dual US/ Chinese nationality.

All the rest of us manufacturing in China outsource actual production.

Hope this clarifies the situation.

Best wishes and...happy collecting!

Andy C.
