Does KC complement CS? (2 Viewers)

My sentiments exactly, but she has her opinions I have mine. I like both my Collectors Showcase and King and Country equally really.

And everyone is entitled to their opinions, but posting that type of comment on a public forum doesn't do a great deal of good for our hobby.

I pre-ordered the entire Collectors Showcase Arnhem series due out in February, these are the worst figures on the market? Next to K&C I'd say they were some of the best my friend. I saw them in Chicago, awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this stuff!:)

There are two things going on here. One is inconsequential in reality: collectors arguing over the merits of toys. We all have our favorites. Let's leave it at that.

The other is more disturbing: a statement that so repels in the season we're in that an apology is in order.

Hopefully, we can chalk it up to a poor choice of words.

At any rate an infraction is in order.

I don't own any CS figures yet, but one thing that impressed me about the Arnhem pics was that some of the figures were posed for hand-to-hand combat. K&C doesn't offer anything comparable to my knowledge in their WW2 line, but it's something I'd like to see them do. I still don't think CS has corrected the length of their 20mm flak gun barrel though.

I also like their first SS motorcycle set - very dynamic, even if the figures are too large. The faces work for me in that set - I can imagine some of the germans that survived combat on the eastern front did look like they were half dead by the end of it.

I certainly think calling another manufacturers products " the worst in the world " is not worth an infraction even if I don't agree with it: can't we all get along!:)

Cheers! Happy Holidays!

You've got to be kidding me.....

I 100% agree with you Simon. I'd like to think however that it was simply a case of type on keyboard before engaging brain.
You gotta be careful OT. Although I'll sometimes quite deliberately tease and wind up other collectors its usually just in fun. Unfortunately your comment was not fun at all. Simon is correct, it was right out of order and really ought to be retracted.
Cheers

I think you very well now that you received an infraction for the comment you made about children on the day after one of the biggest days of the year for children.

I couldn't care less what you said about K & C. You're entitled to say whatever you want in that regard.

Your too funny. In regards to Showcase the photo is excellent, they look quite good. Oh well to each his own, your comments are pretty over the top though. Yet you have them in the photo? Why would you buy " the very worst figures on the market?"

By "worst on the market" I am referring to the painting and sculpting of the faces and hands of the illustrated example--not the figures as a whole. I bought them without seeing them in person and was disappointed big time seeing them up close. The photo was originally posted to show Rob (UK) an idea for a DAK command set and it clearly shows what Brad has described as their horror film appearance. The painting and shading are very unrealistic and the owner of CS has already stated on this forum that he intends to make improvements. I believe those will appear in the new releases. I do think Rommel's uniform was very well done and accurate and made buying it appealing to me.

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. I am an art historian used to teaching students to critique painting and sculpture and that carries over to my assessments of toy soldiers. I think critical reviews of a product are very useful but do not need to be agreed upon by all parties. I happen to like Jackson Pollock but a lot of people think a monkey could paint as well as he did. Personal aesthetic taste does play a factor in collecting art or toy soldiers.

Old Tanker 7.5....are you affiliated with CS in any way? I’m just wondering because I looked at your posts and you are very quick to come to the defense of CS when anyone makes a comment that is critical of the product. Now I know many people come to the defense of KC if they think they are being picked on but I find it hard to believe you won’t concede the point that these first AK figures are poorly sculpted. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but wow look at that picture above with the 2 CS and 2 KC figures……its very hard to object to the point that the KC figures are a better sculpt. Even the people that defend KC also on occasion criticize certain aspects of the product, myself included. The tone and context of your posts would suggest to me that you are defending something that is very personal….like you have a stake in the success of CS. Oh… you are quick to throw in your approval of KC product but also will take a shot at KC in the same breath. If CS is improving their product I say that’s great…welcome to the party and I look forward to seeing what they produce. If you are affiliated with CS the nature of your posts would make sense to me….just wondering.

I am affiliated, by ownership! I have all of the DAK ( two of the 88's ) so when someone says that " they are the worst figures in the industry " it really makes me feel pretty lousy, especially if you folks haven't seen my collection of CS. I've collected K&C for about 1.5 years. I met Brian at The Collectors Showcase in Chicago this year and saw his products, I was really won over the detail is amazing, I just envy the guy and what he's doing. The more negativity directed towards his up and coming company the more I feel like letting folks know that his products are really fantastic. Anyhow no worries: the best to all!

Happy Holidays!

It seems to me that anyone who is picky enough to make a huge fuss over a sighting hole missing on a New Model Army tank would also notice, if they were truly unpartisan, that the painting of CS's figures could use a wee bit of improvement. Just my 2 cents.

Now that is fighting talk.:):):)

Just kidding. I am no art historian but must say I would probably be inclined to the latter camp there. Mind you I am a bit of a philistine when it comes to modern art, ever since that chap put a porcelain toilet on display in Vienna I have felt a bit out of sync with it.
I look forward to hearing your critique of my position which I am confident will be erudite, knowledgeable, insightful and compelling.
Regards
Damian

Wow CS,
I am impressed with your powers of recollection. That huge fuss about not very much occured around 9 months ago. Not sure if this is the same OT though.
Oh well, I'm too late to wish a Merry Christamas, but here's to a Happy New Year to you and yours. All going well today (ie if the equipment I'm commissioning works), I'll maybe get off this rust-bucket tomorrow and see in 2008 on some beach in Pattaya. Fingers crossed for that one.
Cheers

Samurais have long memories. Ever heard the story of the 47 ronin?

Try to get back to shore with all your fingers and toes and have a great New Years Harry.

First off I'd like to say that my wifes brother has down syndrom and if she saw it I think it would really hurt her...

Secondly this is when a Napoleonic collector can sit back and laugh a little, we as of yet have not had an arguement regarding quality like this but who knows what is instore....I usually don't read the WW2 stuff but this was entertaining.
I must say though that we have argued about the fact that WELLINGTON kicked some bu@# on the field, and how Canada won the War of 1812 and how Napoleon was toooo short.....:)

WELLINGTON

Sorry for the last just had to stir the pot a little....

"K&C and CS are currently compatible by size but the CS figures are straight out of the Night of the Living Dead in terms of faces and hands--probably the worst on the market"

My comment above in retrospect reminds me of the Waldorf Salad Episode from Fawlty Towers:

Basil: ...I'm sorry that your meal has not been fully satisfactory this evening...

Mr. Hamilton: Hah! What I'm suggesting is that this is the crummiest, shoddiest, worst-run hotel in the whole of Western Europe...

The Major: No! No! I won't have that! there's a place in Eastbourne...

Peace:)

PB

In 1812 it was only a feint, we didn't really want Canada it's too cold up there and they talk funny, eh?
