Dragoon Charge (1 Viewer)

I just set up a display of some dragoons charging Highlanders and it looks great. I put a build a rama tree in the diorama. My question to you Napoleonic buffs is- were there any trees at Waterloo? If there were any were they near the Cavalry charge Marshall Ney ordered? Thanks for any help

Yes there were trees on the field. They where spread around the fields here and there in the area of the cavalry charges and there were wooded areas around both Hougomont and La Haie Sainte, Hougomont had a large wooded area. Elm trees mostly I believe and lots of tall crops also wheat,rye,ect... There were also lots of bushes and hedges. Most of the road in that section of the center of the cavalry charge was a road lined with hedges and some of the road was sunken and overgrown.

It is a well known fact that the suken road was not the "gorge" that is in the below picture. It was a small cut-out of the landscape - many protraits of the period did a little "historic revision" for dramatic sake.

The Charge itself was conducted on the farm fields as Tim said.

There were woods as Tim said - also this is where the British King's Legion did there dirty work against my wonderful French Napoleonics. So having a wooden scene with the men in green would be very acurate.
