Flat woods are better--but mountains are cool, too. I backpacked 90 miles in the Wind River Range in 2004--it was fenominal!

Unfortunately, here in South Texas, our terrain is mainly chaparral--shrubby stuff, not really what I would call a proper forest.
 
Northern florida is the devil's forest. Miles upon miles of dense flatland with undergrowth reaching as high as your chest!

I took a balloon ride in ABQ in October for Balloon Fiesta and we landed in some elementary school yard and the kids came running out to see this hot air balloon that landed on their school ground. It sure was an experience.

Santa Fe is on the list and we are going to spend a night or two there. Looking forward to seeing NM and the southwest - never been there.

Anyone know if there are any Toy Soldier shops??

How are you Beaufighter?? :)

Nope, but Andrews NM has some pretty good BBQ joints.....;):D;)
 
You folks, as I have said time and time again, will never know BBQ until you come to Texas and eat at A) Cooper's BBQ in Llano, B) BBQ Station in San Antonio, or C) Rudy's BBQ in San Antonio.

It is worth the trip. While you're here, you could visit King's X Toy Soldiers downtown. One of Andy's shops, I believe.

Its in New Mexico, just over the West Texas border. I worked out of Midland/Odessa for three months in 1991 and took the opportunity to visit NM and AZ while I was at it. Great BBQ despite Tex's claims to the contrary.

I didn't say it wasn't great--I just said that here, its better. It tastes like Heaven! Or the 4th of July! :)
