I just got my K&C set# AE 051 "Hunting the Hippo" today. I previously set up a diorama base made by Build-A-Rama entitled "Rivers Edge" which I think looks very good and I would recommend it. I got the river edge diorama mat via Treefrog Treasures. I had to cut off about 3 inches off of one side and I just folded under excess mat material on the back side and I put sand over the long grassy area. Cutting the mat material was easy! After having K&C sets AE 015 & AE 016 (Hunting Pharaoh & Servants carrying his deer) up for sale on eBay I decided to just keep them and I have placed them along with two walking guards sets AE 010 just behind the shoreline of the "Nile River" so as to create two hunting scenes in one diorama that is about 21 inches by 9 inches inside a bookcase shelve. Please see #3 photos below. "Iron Brigade" / Gary

That Hippo is about to lose his tonsils. Great set and scene Gary.^&cool, Robin.

Hi Gary,

Superb hunting display. The AE051 "Hunting the Hippo" is a very unique set. The Nubian hunter stands with no base, so I assume his left leg/foot is attached to the coil of rope for stability.

This set reminds me of "Jaws" rising up menacingly along side the visitor monorail train at Universal Studios in Los Angeles when I was there in the mid-1980's.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Dear Raymond:
Yes, I think the "Hunting the Hippo" set is just splendid! Yes, the coil of rope is indeed attached to the left foot of the Nubian hippo hunter, but for good measure I put a bit of tacky wax under the rope section so as to insure the Nubian hunter does not fall into the hippo's mouth! Your comparing your trip in 1980's at Universal Studios and seeing "Jaws" was most interesting.
Very best regards, Gary

Oh boy, there will be a choice of meat on the table tonight .
great water effect

Looks excellent indeed!

My hippo set shipped yesterday so it should be here maybe tomorrow :)

I would rather like it came with a CROCODILE than a HIPPO ..... ^&grin
