Ducal qoh drum horse (1 Viewer)

Yo Troopers, just got this Ducal Queens Own Hussars Drum Horse, will have to go back the usual plume bent, don't know how this happens its really well cut out the foam to protect it. Put a few shots up. Scott was right about the size they are larger than the Britains models of the 1900-1990s, you can see by the photo with a 3rd Kings own Hussar. Also bought the Ducal Duke of Luxembourg, have him down as Colonel-In-Chief of the Irish Guards, must look into this it must have been an Honorary Title (What you say, cardigan buying Guards lol) there is a special reason for this, when he was in the Irish Guards during WWII my Dad was his Batman, he was really proud that he was as his title was then Prince John Of Luxembourg's Batman. We have a telegram off Prince John he sent my dad when Prince John got married. its Just a nice talking point to tell my little Trooper when he gets older.

Bernard, The Grand Duke of Luxemburg was appointed Colonel of the regiment in August 1984. He had served with the 3rd Btn during the war. The title is, as you say, an honoury one. Actual command of the regiment being undertaken by a Lieutenant Colonel.

Bent or broken plumes are a problem with many manufacturer's Hussars. I have had some luck in straightening some. since it is new and it just arrived it is probably best to send back

Hi Bernard,

great looking figure aside from the plume. They are a bit of a pian and always seem to be a weak spot. I would send it back also to get it replaced, I tend to try and fix these things myself and as you can guess the results are not always what you hope so to avoid the snap and resulting curses best to send to the dealer for replacement.

Glad to see someone else who is into the history of the regiments also. We have the title Colonel of the Regiment in our Army as well and as with yours its is usually awarded to an important past member of the regiment. Most of the ones we had were members of note from WWII.
