Not everthing is "worth" what it may SEEM to be worth or what others may tell you its worth.....Exercise caution and good judgement; make intelligent decisions you who work hard for your money..........Don't get caught up in the frenzy. This is what the sellers are hoping for.....Just a word of caution to buyers on E-bay........

I think most of us are experienced enough with ebay to be aware of its pitfalls and benefits.

E-BAY BUYERS: Consider this: It is possible that some items on auction at E-Bay may be being bid upon by "false bidders"....these bidders may bid on an item not with the intent to purchase it but simply to drive up the cost of an item creating a false sense of "value" for that item....It is also possible that they may or may not be working with the seller in this regard......especially when 2nd chance offers are involved.......buy what you like......pay what YOU think an item is worth......the "value" of an item is not worth only what a foolish purchaser will pay for it......those losses will unlikely be recovered when he tries to unload the item latter......Just a word to the wise.......

One or two Russian eBayers were suspended over 'shill bidding' on St Petersburg figures but it's not as big a problem with K&C, as we all tend to know who's who. Don't forget that the crash of the dollar in 2006 effectively handed European bidders a 20% discount on items denominated in dollars, and thus it is not unusual to see a French or Italian bidder bid high on a number of similar lots. The dollar is expected to dip by another 10% in 2007, whihc is great for US exporters and good news for European buyers on eBay.

Thank you for your imput on this concern......

Heres one for you guys to watch out for!!!!
Have any of you guys ever won an auction that flew under the radar with a real low starting paid for the iteam and then never recieved it???
This has happened to me a few times already.
I think a lot of ebay sellers start their auctions at a low starting bid to get interest and avoid higher selling fees.

Now heres the scam I think I,ve run into a few times, if they don,t get any other bids and the auction ends and they have to let the iteam go for the really low cost, they just take your payment and never ship the iteam and if you do call and complain they delay till you can no longer leave negative feedback or just refund your money and they don,t have to let the iteam go for a loss!!! This has happened to me a few times already and I ask for tracking info and they don,t have any to give me because they never sent the iteam.

I,ve got a few iteams that I ordered from england that I had sent by surface mail that i,m still waiting on that still have not arrived that I ordered back in september that still have not arrived.

I paid for both auctions on the same invoice and they ended a day apart from each other, from the same seller and I recived one set months ago but the set that had a low starting bid and had no other bids has still not arrived????

I also am still waiting on 2 del prado cavalry figures I won back in september that had no other bids with a real low starting bid and now the time to leave feedback has expired. I used surface mail to have them sent because its half the price as air mail. The problem with surface mail is it takes munch longer to arrive and is not as dependable as air mail but sometimes comes just as quick as air mail. Its kind of a gamble I guess but the problem is if your iteams arrive to late and broken your out of time on ebay to leave negative feedback!!!

A tip is if you paid by paypal you can still access the feedback from your paypal history if its no longer on your ebay screen.

So in the future I,m going to ask for tracking numbers on the stuff that I win so this dosn,t happen again.

It seems like its always the iteams that I get the best deal on that I want the most that this always seems to happen on and it drives me crazy and the time and B.S. it takes to try and find out what happened to your stuff!!!  :

The only thing I,ve been stung on twice now is buying items,
one was 2 imperial sets and the other a fairly expensive book
so both valued in the hundreds ,then after making payment
[both had good feedback in the mid 100,s]They apear as being
no longer registered.
So unless paypal gives you a refund which in my case was partial on one and full on the other, your sunk because you cant leave feedback on them to warn others.
I know one of the sellers had done this too others, at the same time because another buyer contacted me about it.
Still its like any buisness their will always be a small percentage of people who
are dishonest.luckily its only small:eek:

I am very lucky until today as I do not have to report any bad experience with eBay as buyer or seller.

As for the concerns of Vezzolf, the market sets the prices while it is true that sometimes an item may sells over his real value.

Pierre.

Several eBay sellers have tried to rip me off over the years and they have come out the worst following some negative feedback causing reduced sales and in two cases their deregistration.

If you follow a few simple rules you will never be ripped off, such as:

ALWAYS
* Buy from sellers that have a minimum of 98% positive feedback, go below this figure at your own risk.

* Use Airmail for delivery and take the insurance option if available. Airmail usually arrives within ten days - even to Australia :) Although the insurance usually only covers the seller it's worth the few extra dollars as they are more inclined to repay you from their own pocket if the item goes missing. If they won't pay up themselves, make a claim via Paypay or eBay.

* Make a claim for 'Non-receipt' or 'Item not as described' BEFORE the expiry date - 45 days with Paypal. Bad sellers are VERY good at delaying tactics and count on the fact that most buyers won't make a claim in time - don't be another sucker. If the item turns up you can always advise Paypal that the claim has been resolved. However, if you don't claim within the 45 days, it's to bad, how sad, you mad

If you take a serious look at the bidders on eBay, in regards to K&C especially, you will notice a fairly small pool of people. If you think for a second that this pool of people don't know who each other are you would be mistaken.

The people on this board are pretty savy and suspicious activity does not go un-noticed in this group.

I have never had one bad problem gone unfixed. A couple items have not been what was advertised and the newbie seller has made good.

Over the years I have sold items that are extras or things that I need to reduce to make room for the new items that Andy keeps churing out. I agree that we all either have done business together and or know who the buyers are.

I have always worked hard to be a GOOD SELLER and many of you know that. But, I agree you do need to be careful with the "hit and run" guys.

Ebay is a great place - but, you do have to be careful. :)

The reality is, as long as I have been buying and selling, when it comes to K/C on ebay, all bets are off. I get higher bidding when overseas buyers are involved. I do not know why K/C is not readily available in some of the countries that want my items, but to malign them as ignorant allowing themselves to be taken by us dishonest sellers is an insult. These are the new folks that Andy has been trying to bring into the fold. They have money and are trying to play catch up with the retired stuff. Some seem to forget that the seller does not set the price. The seller for the most part starts at a lower than market value price and then sits back for 7 days and hopes for interest in his auction.......And K/C retired will always bring interest.....Michael

I still think ebay is a great place to get great opportunities on King & Country Figures......:)

I am a novice at ebay, but buy from a few dealers. I have a question - is it possible to somehow receive notifications that a particular seller has posted a new item on their store when they go up?

Yes, just add them to your favorite sellers with notification of new items.
