Ive been collecting Imperial for the last twenty years ive got some early sets . The Eketahuna rifles and also the Gilbert Mair set does anyone know the value of these early sets.

Incedentally I was in the shop this week 9 July they are keeping a limited run for collectors but are closing for a month the owner is having a Op.

Tough to say what the value of those early sets would be internationally. Around here in the U.S., the values of many collectibles like these have been dropping noticeably.

On ebay, your result might range from sub $100 US to as high as $200 US for a single set of six soldiers, especially if you find a fellow collector who needs exactly the set you have for sale. Rarer sets, like the six figure Gilbert Mair set (#11, not NZ11) will tend to bring more if there is an educated audience.

I spoke with Mr. Cowe tonight and he IS going into the hospital for an operation. Should be "under the knife" on Sunday night (US time) so all you Imperial fans, please keep the Cowes in your thoughts this weekend.

Also, taumalo, if you happen to have the Officers and Men Carrier Deck Crew made by Imperial, I will gladly offer to purchase that.

Cheers and welcome,
Drum

To start with, I know we're all sending our best thoughts and wishes to the Cowes. I'm very upbeat that David will be on the mend very soon.

On set prices for early sets, Ebay prices can really fluctuate. I agree with Drum that they have been down over the past year. However, I understand prices can be higher at toy soldier shows and I know they can be higher in shops that have some of the old sets. I did pay $150 for set 8, Eketahuna Rifles, in 1996 and $300 for set 1, the Khaki Brigade, in 1996. I bought them from a dealer. I for one would not hesitate to pay several hundred bucks for an out of production Imperial set that I wanted, but didn't have

Post some pictures or more info on your Imperial Collection. We're a small, but loyal group and love to see what other collectors have and do.

I just got a nice shipment of stuff from Imperial yesterday. Without a doubt, they make the best toy soldiers.

To add to what the guys have said above , if you
are looking to sell ,trademe may be a better option
for you [I havent seen any of the early sets on their for
quite some time so i,m not sure of the value].

But I have come across a good few local collectors at
various times so it may well be a better option than ebay etc.

How about some pics, Dan? It will help us to generate good thoughts toward NZ this weekend.

I will post some if you do.

Any requests?

Thanks for the replies I will post some pics soon. I feel the Imperial are the best quality soldiers I have seen .
