I talked to a progressive (family member) yesterday about Global Warming (I mean Climate Change). She’s in complete agreement of the need for social engineering to achieve a better and safer society. Okay, what does that have to do with eBay, huh?

It’s about choices, it’s about free speech and much more we become willing to give up little by little for ostensibly for the “greater good”.

MY EBAY EXPERIENCE TODAY
They suspended my account today, for 1-day as a warning. Why? This is my second time trying to list King & Country (WS106, LAH134 & LAH147) on eBay. See my byline and heavily censored pictures below.

“King and Country WWII German Paris Visit & Political SIgns works w/ Thomas Gunn”

Where is Hitler? Where’s are the “swastikas”? It took me some time to Photoshop them out. I won’t tell my recent experience selling a KC ACW Confederate flagbearer holding the Rebel Battle Flag.

It didn’t matter; apparently I violated eBay’s “Hateful & Discriminatory” policies and paid I for it! “You will comply or be eliminated”! Yes, it is nice to have that kind of leverage that a virtual monopoly provides. You can maximize profits and self-promote yourself as a positive agent of change. Who said that “big business” is conservative anyhow?

THE PRICE OF IGNORING HISTORY
BTW, I hate the Nazis and all history’s totalitarian regime that take away choice, freedoms and commit crimes against humanity. However, forgetting the past will ensure the worse of the past to become realty again.

What do you think?

Carlos

Carlos think you could start with leaving me feedback first:wink2:

I think history can repeat itself if we forget, and I don't like people telling me I don't have a choice./badger

Everybody wants to be "The Good Guy".I really feel feel that's why Trump is doing well in the polls even though I think he wouldn't be a very good president.Everybody is afraid they will make someone mad so Trump is one of the few who isn't and the great silent majority like that.

Carlos,

Listings like these usually come to the attention of E-Bay when some "Hater" reports the listing. Usually the Hater's will add your items to their "Watch" list and then submit a
report and see if it gets pulled or not. I have had this happen 3 times this past year, while other seller's list the very same item and nothing gets done about it ! Talk about a
"Double Standard". What kills me is how many stamps and coins have a swastica on them and remain untouched, while Toy Soldier items continue to get pulled ???
I have had Hitler TS items pulled while the exact same item was allowed to be sold by another seller........Go figure !
Like I said in another thread..........To heck with E-Bay. I am done with them. If more sellers drop them, maybe they will take the hint !

Whether you like it or not, that's their policy. They are a private company and can impose these kinds of rules if they wish. If you did it a second time after you'd been warned, well, what can you say. You knew what were you doing and did it knowing you were taking a risk.

I tried to sell a Hitler set and the listing was pulled; I then sold it privately.

Incidentally these THIRD Reich pieces are the ones that still continue to sell above the RRP from what I noticed on eBay (myself I had been eyeing for the SS SideCar Motorcycle Parade piece at a fair price for years on eBay - it does not go below $125 ).

What I like to say is there are still has many buyers/collectors on this part of the history whether those "haters" like it or not. {sm4}

Carlos:

I first ran into eBay's "anti Nazi" rules in 2007 as I recall. My glossy LAH series of sets I was selling back then were delisted. I relisted them with photos avoiding any Nazi emblems being shown and my second set of listings went ok for the full term of the auction periods. I have sold other LAH sets since then and I have had no problems being careful to avoid having photos eBay may object to. It indeed seems stupid for eBay to allow eBay sales of Nazi related books and money, but not toy soldiers, ugh!

I'm not working for or with ebay

They are selling worldwide and to avoid any problem apply "local laws" (IMO) ; in many EU countries the representation of nazi leader or SS runes or swastiska are prohibited in all advertising
That is why in the 70ies, such producers as Tamya, Italeri and many kits makers suppresed those signs on their artbox

I live in Belgium and we had /have history classes and they hide absolutely nothing about WWII ( or ACW ), including leaders and symbols
that was/is true for me, for my children and now for my grandchildren, we do not forgot anything about the 100 millions + of EU who died in this war, and do not forgot the tremenduous help we got from US and their fabulous combats they fought to help us with teir own lifes . ( Thanks again )

By the way, as collector, I found what you are showing, a very good piece ( even if I have none in my own collection )

We know the history of the laws banning Nazi symbols, Mirof. Understand that we're Americans, and we still do believe that you shouldn't hide unpleasant or distateful ideas, just because they offend you. You combat those ideas with better ones. That's why our Founders enshrined that principle in the First Amendment to our Constitution. So we will sound off, when we see censorship of any kind, understanding, of course, as Brad (jazzeum) pointed out, eBay is a private company and may do as it pleases.

Prost!
Brad

Thank you for allowing me to bloviate in this post. The fact remains that eBay remains the best marketplace to sell toy soldiers to a worldwide market quickly and at market price. I don’t like getting hammer on these discriminatory and hate speech policy.

BTW, can anyone find Hitler or swastikas anywhere in my eBay picture post above? I cannot, and that’s what burns me the most. I made a sincere effort to comply with their policy short of not selling these items at all.

I have many more items in my collection to sell and therefore I’m forced to comply. This is how social engineering works, hit them in their pocket books. It works!!! Apparently political activism trumps capitalism. We live in a brave new world but is it better?

Carlos

Carlos,

It's possible that one of your competitors may have tattled on you. Otherwise, I don't think ebay is that observant. I think that's what happened to me and my early LAH Hitlers. I was fortunate not to lose any money on it.

If you're right Brad, it's petty; definitely actions from a small person. Especially since I am not a dealer.

I got nailed leaving the Herman Goring in my Figarti 251/17 description. I was amazed since I copied another listing directly, and it had been up for a week. I waited two weeks and recreated it w/o the offensive name. We will see if I get banned.

They say, "They have special ways of tracking these things and knowing if it gets relisted." Most people think they only respond to a complaint.

Sweet....They are a private company and I as a private consumer choose to avoid them like the Plague.................Finito Amigo !
