If the bidding stays low, I think this is a neat set, however, pretty sure it is missing the cannon. Typically artillery sets come with cannons especially when the limber is present with artillery detail. Notice the hand rails are severely bent. There is a lot of stuff on ebay that is miss marked and you really have to know what you are looking at.

Tom is absolutely right — the set is missing a cannon. This is the PW8 Raj set.

What about the set that @damian posted. It’s the same set. Only has four camels.
Please note that the set for sale on eBay is an earlier version with camel figures that do not have bases. The set being referred to features camels with bases in a different white color—clearly a later version from Dragon Crest. I’ve never seen that one before; maybe it came with four camels, but it still includes a cannon.

Damian’s doesn’t have bases either.

Too many maybes there. If you haven’t seen it before, it could have been made that way. After all Len made figures that were one offs. I sold you one that you had never seen before.

If I, one, had the room and two, not in the selling mode, I’d take a flyer at this. Interestingly, this looks to be only a one or two day auction, with many watchers. I’m curious to see how this winds up.

Brad, it’s not a one-off (which would typically have different uniforms or equipment)—it’s just a set missing a cannon. I was referring to the set shown in the link you provided from Tommy’s collection, which (collection) I believe will be offered online very soon. I bought my first set from the original owner unused and recently picked up another one at auction: 6 camels and a cannon—just a standard set in my view. Applying Occam’s Razor here, the simplest explanation is that the set in question is incomplete, rather than being a unique or special version.

Even incomplete, it sold surprisingly low. The last two complete boxed sets went for over $800 a couple years ago. I guess we can blame the tariffs for that :)

It’s from Damian’s collection, not Tommy’s. It’s not clear to me that it’s missing the artillery, not that it matters as this is just semantic question and the set just sold.

Tommy sold his collection awhile ago unless the buyer is now selling it.

I doubt tariffs had anything to do with it. The resale value on Trophy at the present time isn’t great. Some Camel Corps sold recently through an online auction house for next to nothing.

The comment about tariffs was a joke, Brad—people have been blaming everything on them lately, haha. The real reason Camel Corps prices have dropped is because Little Legion, I believe, is selling a bunch of nice CC recasts for around $100. I still prefer the originals.

Hi I also have a 6 camel version and a 4 camel version, both sets have the cannon. I did ask on the forum when I purchased it if anyone had come across a 6 camel version before and it was suggested that it was a special order. If you also have a 6 camel version then I guess we can assume it was more widely available.

Just wanted to add the 6 camel set I acquired was advertised as “The Pride of Bikaner’s Army”. I believe the 4 camel set may have been sold to me as Hyderabad Camel Artillery. Not sure which if either is correct!

Here is the set description from a Trophy catalogue I have, it is the PRIDE OF BIKANER'S ARMY - THE CAMEL DRAWN ARTILLERY
I never had that set in my collection

Cheers

Martyn :)

Thanks you for sharing that information Martyn, my six camel version also had set PW8 written on the box.

Do you mean the Egyptian camel traders, Omar Tharif being the most notorious.

ok, so it was missing the cannon I believe. Still I believe it went rather cheap. End of day, if it fit in someone's collection for the price, then it was a good deal
