Ebay ? (1 Viewer)

ok hows this for worst ebay story....

sold something on ebay to someone in US (from UK). arrived aok. buyer posted message on ebay saying thanks its arrived and its fine. job done.

almost 6m later they disputed the payment for it with their bank/credit card company. ebay contacted us. ebay said we need to prove the buyer received it. We said check their message saying thanks for the item arriving safe and well. ebay said the burden of proof from banks/credit card companies is higher than that - we need to have kept the post office receipt showing we posted it ! I said *** their message proves they got it how can they dispute it ??? as we didnt keep the postage receipt for 6m we were out of luck and ebay had to take the money off us and return it to the buyers bank/credit card. unbe******lievable.

now we keep all postage receipts for 6m but its never happened again.

Cheers,

Stefan

Stefan...
that's both sad and frustrating...
fight for your justice and money on this...
call back and open a dispute with a supervisor...
the problem with Ebay is the interpretation of their policy varies from representative to representative...
one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing...
one guy will tell you one thing...the next guy will tell you different...
you obviously have proof he received it through your email...
open a case and dispute it with a supervisor...
their resolution team should support you on this...
it's common sense seeing he admitted receiving it...
and you do have proof...
also as Brad said...
always enter the tracking # into the "order details"...
they can access a 6 month old transaction to verify tracking...

I have learned the hard way about keeping postal receipts. Fortunately, it was only $45 but I learned my lesson. The buyer said he never received the package and without a tracking number I couldn’t dispute his claim.

I'm totally confused here; I had a person claim once he never got the package, I had uploaded the USPS tracking onto Ebay, when I clicked on the number, it showed it was delivered the day before.........I sent him a message saying he got it, he claimed he did not............I called Ebay, they told me I was 100% covered, if he requested a refund, they would deny it as the tracking showed the item was delivered..........he later messaged me saying his wife had the package, he's sorry, blah, blah, blah.........bottom line is if the tracking is uploaded onto Ebay and if it shows it was delivered, case closed........................

That should be the end of it. I can only surmise that Stefan didn’t load the tracking information into eBay.

I have seen it George where it was delivered but at the wrong house so sometimes the buyer may not be lying.

Understood, that happened to a customer of mine in FL, huge box full of TGM Romans, he said he did not get it, tracking showed it was delivered, it ended up at a neighbors house, luckily that person brought it over...……..good thing that person was not a toy soldier collector...…………….:wink2:

I had a problem with the post office on another matter but some how this topic came up and I was told that USPS has a gps tracking system in other words it would show that it was delivered but to the wrong address. Now getting it straightened out after that good luck. As I'm sure the first words out of the post office was, did you have insurance.

Gary...

that is their standard line to absolve all responsibility...

"did you have insurance on it?"...

what a gimmick...
I gotta pay extra for insurance...
to make sure you do your job...

next pizza delivery companies will start doing this...
"would you like to purchase pizza delivery insurance with your order sir?"

they do have a domestic GPS tracking service now...it's not as sophisticated as a Mission Impossible show where they can see the color of someone's eyes from outer space GPS...but it can identify a property that the mail person walks onto...

my mail person told me that they are trying not acknowledge it publicly...as it would create a need for more manpower on their end if customers start requesting them to apply that software to tracking their personal packages......

it's much easier for them to say...
"did you have insurance on it?"...

they also have a camera in their scanner...that photographs the mail person's thumb when they scan a package...this is part of their GPS scanning...

my mail person is a Caucasian lady...she was written up for an infraction on some error on scanning/delivering a parcel...she told her supervisor that she was off the day that package was scanned and delivered...it couldn't have been her...then they reviewed the photo footage...and it showed a black thumb scanning it...obviously not her thumb...

you should get Andy Moffet to tell you his first hand take on this...he knows more than me about it as they used it to track a parcel of his that was delivered to the wrong address...
