All,
Went to the Alamo Draft House and check out the new Tom Cruise flick. Before I get to the movie review allow me to rate the food. I had a Royale with Cheese, fries, Queso Blanco with Chips and washed in down with homemade Root Beer. The food is pretty good there! But, my back is killing me today because they have got to upgrade the seats.
Edge of Tomorrow is a hodge podge of "The Time Machine", "Ground Hog Day", "Aliens II", and "Avatar" all rolled up in one. So, nothing new here folks in regards to originality. However, the weaving of the story line to make one understand the plight of Cruises character was spot on. You never lost where he was at in his "new day" that was over and over until they found the evil alien monster. And it was actually funny at times as you watched him "train" for the his next same day.
Moving on to Mr. Cruise as the actor, well he was just in another sci-fi flick "Oblivion" which was kinda a little of the same thing...fighting the evil alien who turns out to be a cube or something. It was a pretty weak flick and I will be frank here as I really do not care for Mr. Top Gun. HOWEVER COMMA, the movies that I do like him in has zero special effects and it is pure story line. For example:
Born on the Fourth of July
Jerry McGuire
Far and Away
Valkyrie
So, when he is in movies that portray a character with flaws either physically or emotionally then I dig his skill because he can be spot on. But, when he is the only hope in the universe....fugggetdabouuditttt.
