After completing my collection of the Crimean War I have been giving a lot of thought to what range to dabble in next. I’ve always had a liking for the Eighth Army vehicles and with the announcement of the Rolls Royce Armoured Car due in February I took the plunge and added a couple more sets to the Daimler Dingo I already had. The lounge carpet will do for now whilst a suitable terrain board is being made for my cabinet.

the mightiest of oaks sprout from the smallest of trees. one day that carpet will be covered in an all out assault to hold Tobruk :p

Good luck with it!!

What else are you contemplating Jeff? There is the Crusader, which is nicely done, not to mention that you could probably pick up some retired sets on eBay of 8th Army at decent pricing.

I'm not sure how well the Rolls will go with some of those vehicles as that was more 1940ish.

As a separate thing you could do a combined LRDG and SAS diorama. I know some of the LRDG issues are retired but you might be able to pick them up at a decent price.

I never picked up the Churchill car although it's a very nice piece because that sub-range just didn't seem to fit in with 8th Army generally so it would seem natural to make this something separate if you were so inclined. I wish I had the room to do so because I liked the look that Andy put together, with the marching band and so forth.

Not K & C but you might want to think about the Figarti Desert Sherman, a very, very nice piece. I think Mark Sable was trying to sell his for a very, very good price. It might still be available. The figure wasn't the greatest but I replaced him with a K & C figure and looks great.

Would love to see Andy do a Desert Sherman as well as a Valentine and a Honey, as well as some Desert planes. Don't think a Valentine is in the cards, however.

Speaking of the Honey Figarti made some nice ones which you can still pick up dirt cheap. Now, they were 1/32 but if you stick them in the background, no one can tell the difference.

Have fun. This is my favorite of all K & C ranges. Maybe I will take a photo this weekend showing what I have.

The Dingo is what jumps off the screen for me............AH, just what I need, another ghost to go chase. As a side note...can't imagine any 8th Army collection without the staff car. It was the first K&C vech I picked up.

Cheers Chris, but it will a smallish scene..

Brad, thanks for the suggestions, but I tend to favour the small tanks and vehicles like the Vickers!....so if anyone has a spare one going cheap.

Nice vehicles Jeff. I am still getting AK stuff but I should get some 8th Army figures and vehicles.Maybe that will be next. Nice photos. I also need some desert mats for display. John

Nice sets have to say I really like the commander of the vickers tank. The best british commander done to date
Mitch

Jeff,

The Vickers is a great little tank, particularly the officer in the great coat. Since you like the smaller ones, see if you find the Figarti Honey. I think you would like that.

Cheers,

I have the Vickers set as well and agree that it's a great little tank. But what makes this set is the 3 figures. I agree Mitch that the commander is one of the best done so far. I don't have the Crusader yet and have thought about getting it and replacing it's commander (which I don't really care for) with the commander from the Vickers. Also agree with Brad that the officer in the greatcoat is a great figure...one of my alltime favorites from K&C.

Jeff mate,
Three nice vehicles there. The Dingo is a great little Kiwi marked AFV. The Vickers you want is nice but you need a MATILDA !!!!! Keep collecting the EA range cobber. It is the best K&C range only just pipped by the Lighthorse, but then I am biased.:D:D
Just think that maybe 2011 could be the year of TOBRUK and the sky is the limit with the EA range.:)
Cheers Howard

Another small display.....

Major David Stirling and SAS Recce Team, North Africa c1941/1942.

Hi Howard,

I agree, but I am more than a bit biased towards the Crimean! ;):D

Thanks :)

Is K&C UK coming out with a new range at the end of this year?

Might be worth looking at.

Andy

Jeff, nice collection you have there, we will have you hooked on WW2 yet my friend, you know you want the Desert Tilly to go with them;)

Nice pic Raymond:cool:

Rob

Managed to get a desert Vickers (courtesy of a fellow forum member, thanks again btw :) ) which now joins the previous assemble of EA vehicles. I will have to update next month once I get my sticky little mitts on the RR armoured car.

Very nice sets indeed. I do like the way that you have had the foresight to get a carpet that resembles the desert landscape. Thats clever getting your house to co-ordinate with your collectables lol
