EK Samurai (1 Viewer)

Victor,

I'm looking froward to seeing your work on these figures, they are very details, so a joy to paint.

I've got a few in my collection, including one of the same figures you are painting.

Hi John,

Wow! Beautiful work as always.

I had intended to keep the EK figures for body parts (I watched "Coma" when I was a kid) but as you can sense from my other threads, I'm starting to explore Samurais again.

Ive added groundwork to the bases. Painted more on the middle samurai. Presumably he will be my prototype for minamoto yoshitsune. The one with a spear will be his companion benkei.

The correct name is Minamoto Yoshitsune. I found the exact illustration upon which this figure was based upon in an Osprey samurai book.
The figure is holding a bow.

Anyway, the EK figure is holding a sword which is thick and rather ugly. I found a spare bow (ex-de Tara Miniatures) and decided to substitute this for the sword.

I realised that the bow is not a commercial item and was made by me from a cut thick wire bent to the right shape and wound with thin wire at intervals. A thin guitar string was added as a bow string.

Then I added putty to bulk out the kimono sleeves. Also added a small white strip of metal paper to identify a samurai leader. Starting to do final ptg.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for yr comments. The pose looks like it should be holding a bow anyway.
I'll be repainting the figure based on this illustration.
