Alright- here is my first attempt at a poll.

Of EoI's catalogue, which figures do you like the best and why??

I am a fan of the Ancient Greeks- for a million reasons. However, quality-wise, I believe their Samurai are the most exciting from an artistry standpoint and quality of action poses and range of figures. Any one else have any thoughts or comments??

I believe the Greek hoplites look more and more impressive the bigger you make the phanlanx. The samurai however, stand on their own (and, of course look tremendous in groups).

PS- you don't have to own any to comment :)

I have 2 sets of Persians and all but a couple of The Army of Oda Nobunaga which are my favorites. I believe they are his best range for quality, detail and paint.

I have 15 Persians and 9 Greeks so far and I think they look great. The detailed paint job on the Persians is fantastic....The painted shields on the Greeks are detailed also and are great looking...Nick;)

I have a couple of Greek / Persian sets but am eagarly awaiting pre-order information on the Romans, which should be added to the poll.;) I also am patiently  awaiting the new Greek announcement.

I'm not too interested in the Romans :eek: - INCOMING FROM CHRIS -:eek:, but I'm also extremely interested in the new Greek announcement.
Unfortunately TF don't seem to list the Samurai, but seeing as I'm so impressed with the Greeks and Persians I have (and the rest are on order), I'm willing to take Chris's word that the Samurai are pretty "ULTIMATE".

Cheers

H, My dear friend.

I have spoken with Caesar and pled for mercy but alas, none is to be given- he told me the legions will arrive momentarily in Dalian to sack your house, take your minis and put them on EBay to defray the cost of retribution :D

H- EoI is to Samurai what KC is to WW2- it is without a doubt their signature line. I wish you had gotten in on the ground floor back in 01, when I did, there were really excellent pieces available then that are no longer around. Still, their samurai are the best, with the obvious exception of the Russians, but they are simply amazing. You will enjoy them immensely.

Aaah-Haah, Mr C.
I'm quite safe from the Legions, cos I'm currently fending off the sharks in Thailand. And when the Myrrmidons turn up in Dalian (wrong legion, wrong era, but I'd luv ta see EoI or K&C make them) - they'll have Missus Heid to deal with....:eek::eek:
I hereby predict they shall be forced to retire to Italy in a sorry state of affairs.
And what's all this nonsense about..?? I didn't know there were Samurai's of Russian ethnic nationality.....Always thought they were Japanese....(Doh).
Seriously, I think Sierra still has the EoI items. Hmmmm.......
Cheers

Michtoy has always carried the Samurai line as well. You can also just order from their website though it isn't very current as some of the older retired sets are still listed there.

I have found you need to call them to confirm inventory for the items you want generally.

Treefrog will soon carry a much wider EoI line (we're waiting for Ken to get back from sunny Spain...)

I'd have to aggree with your comments about Samurais.

I first saw them when I met up with Ken in London in 2000. I went to his home in Surbition ans was greeted with a room full of miniature warriors covering the huge dining table, and all over the house. He was about the show them off for the first time at the London Toy Soldier Show, and I was fortuate to be given some castings of Archers & Arquebusier from the Tokugawa Clan which I painted and exhibited on my website.

I've been very impressed with the continuing ranges, especially the Boxer Rebellion, so lets home that he can reveive the business and produce more wonderful figures.

I am waiting for that day when Ken comes back to us. The biggest tragedy of this hobby is that he seems to be mia. Absolutely fantastic guy and excellent craftsman.

The samurai are my choice. The other lines are great, but this is the primo effort for the company.
