Unfortunately, television coverage over here is pathetic so I only have the written accounts to go by but are you kidding me: England and Montenegro in a scoreless tie. That is pathetic considering the quality of the England side. The Guardian's account was scathing.

On a more pleasant note Spain beat Scotland 3-2.

And there you have it. Unfortunately, England have been riding on a wave of reputation alone, for far too long and you're right on the money re lack of team playing.

Having travelled and followed England I can say that these guys are playing on reputations only and have been for many years and, they have no comprehension or understanding of what it means to put on an England shirt. For them its now become another fashion accessory to put into their jewellery boxes. Gutless and spineless are terms I would use. The players of great English sides are sadly long gone who were willing to put in a shift and had pride to wear the shirt the Batty's pearce, Shearer et al who were proud to play for England and saw it as an honour.

Add to that a crappy run of foriengn managers who have no idea and we have the shambles we have now with the national team. I think the best thing is to clear the decks completely and bring in players who want to play not feel they should be automatically picked because of who they think they are or, who they play for.

We will never do anything until this happens and probably means that the FA needs shaking up also.
