I was reading the thread in historical discussions about battlefields people have visited. I was wondering if there are any movie sets that any treefroggers have visited?
-I've only been to John Wayne's Alamo in Texas.
-I've been to Williamsburg, Virginia when I was real young, where they filmed the John Adams series more recently.
-Also I've been to Chimney Rock, North Carolina where they filmed the final cliff scenes from the Last of the Mohicans.
-The only other "movie set" I've been to was when I was young, about 7 years old. My family and I were visiting Gettysburg, we didn't know that we planned our trip the same time they were making the movie. I remember driving by on Confederate Ave. near the Bushman Farm, there was crew lined up on the road, we slowed to look, and I remembered them angrily waving us to keep moving. I remember Little Round Top having army camo netting over the entire New York "castle" monument. I may have to bug my parents to see if there are any pictures of this.

Local stuff

"Three Sovereigns for Sarah" (PBS movie) in Danvers, Mass.
(I was an extra in this one.)

"The Scarlet Letter" (PBS movie) in Newport, RI
"The Perfect Storm" Gloucester, Mass
"I'll be Home for Christmas" (WWII TV movie) Rockport, Mass.
"Mermaids" Rockport, Mass.
"The Love Letter" Rockport, Mass.
(Steven Spielberg was visiting the set and signed a "Saving Private Ryan" advert for my dad who was in the hospital.)

Some of the fields and sites used in "Gettysburg" and "Gods and Generals"

I was in one movie- about the history of lobotomies. I played a worker who helped Phinius Gauge to the hospital. Fake blood is fun!!:D:D:D If you don't know who Gauge is, look him up... he was a pretty cool guy!

In the US "Transformers" set in Chicago last summer. Many movie sets in France especially in Paris since a lot of movies in Europe are shot on real location :)

When I was in Germany I went on the set of Das boot & went inside the sub witch was built in a transport container

Interesting subject. They filmed two movies in my home town area. Alices Restaurant and Pretty Poison. Also been on the sets of several westerns in Arizona Sedona area and Old Tucson and Tombstone. Also the square in Prague where they filmed a portion of Mission Impossible also cool to see them use the St Georges Bridge in that film and the Vin Diesel Action film XXX. Also was on the set of the Winds of War North African locations in the Mojave Desert, nearly got a bit as a extra in that one. Funny seeing guys and tanks done up to look like Nazis and Desert Rats, I believe that the film about Desert Storm was done there as well I forget the name but it had Meg Ryan and Denzel Washington in it. He did a bunch on stuff with the troops there and she was a pill according to everyone I know who had anything to do with the film. Also was on the set at Ft Knox where they filmed Stripes one of my all time favorite movies. Have a friend who made it into that one as an extra. Nearly all of those buildings have been knocked down now and its totally different looking than the movie. Even made it to the pyramid in Paris.

I am sure that there are bunch of places I am forgetting like Vegas where they have filmed so many movies. But thats what makes a question like this interesting

In the early eighties, a bunch of us were sent with a "four tonner" to Pinewood Studios to pick up some props fo an officers summer ball. We were supposed to just pick up and leave but they were filming a Bond movie in the big James Bond indoor set there. They were a nice bunch of people and let us hang around all day. I remember good catering!
Not a film but we used to regularly get t.v. crews in from around the world.

Could EASILY die a happy man with that experience under my belt!! :) SFC Hulka- gotta love him.

When we went to Ireland back in 99 we went to Glendalough, about an hour from Dublin- the marriage scene in Braveheart was filmed there. I've been to Central Park in NYC- They've shot some movie scenes there before too :D

Back in 2008, on Craigslist-the owners of Indiana Jones boyhood home in The last crusade was selling the house they used for the movie, which is a real residence, for $148k
