Thanks Brendan, yeah it's a well known event here in NZ, but will be great to see on the big screen.

Cheers!

Looks like a good cast as well.

I remember news of this at the time and in particular the phone he made to his wife. Emotional. Might be a few tissues needed in cinemas at that point.

Here's the movie trailer. For anyone keen on the outdoors, climbing, hiking etc this is a must see. Hang on for the ride..........

But not for anyone that has a fear for heights! {eek3}

Thanks for posting Toddy, it looks good and I might pop down to the cinema and check it out.

I look forward to this. I read Into Thin Air and thought it very good. Have always loved Everest climbing stories and the history involving Mallory. Should be a good movie with this cast. -- Al

Saw this today.

Aussie actors Jason Clarke and Sam Worthington, Josh Brolin as the Texan and Robin Wright as his wife, Jake Gyllenhall, Emily Blunt, Kiera Knightly.

If you liked Cliffhanger and Velocity you will know what to expect although this one is a true story.

Filmed in Iceland, Italy and Nepal and very well done. They did film at base camp also.

Had told my better half to take a tissue but at the end she said did not need one. Her response was anger at them being involved in such a stupid sport !

A different kind of movie than normal. Wife did not enjoy it much. Thought there would be a bit more friction between the other teams climbing that day. At one point thought the "bad
guys" were going to be the South Africans. Hard to compare with the good dramas or blockbuster type movies. If somebody asked my opinion I would say it was OK.
