General Omar Bradley, recently arrived in Casablanca after the successful Torch Landings of 1942, has his photo taken by a G.I. photographer for Yank Magazine outside "Rick's Cafe Americain" later made famous to American audiences by Humphprey Bogart in the 1943 film Casablanca. When Rick learned the Americans were in town, he left the Free French Garrison at Brazzaville to return and reopen his cafe to host his fellow countrymen. (Uses K&C figures DD079 & DD076).

Here is what I started with. The b&w Casablanca photo came from the Web. In my final version I of course removed the color to have the figures match the background, blacked out Bogart's sleeve using the software's color replacement paint brush (to the right of Bradley), and cropped the image all using Photoshop Elements 3. Of all the forums, in all the towns, in all the world, you had to post that on mine . . . brilliant!

Now is you could only get that "Bogie" figure from DD24

You could take Bogie, put him in the scene and tell Rick's story of how he got away from Captain Renault; changed his name to Joe Gunn, became a sergeant and a hero a second time after he made his way to the English line before the Gestapo could kill him.

Boy do I wish I owned that set. I love the Bogie movie Sahara. When did K&C issue that and I wonder what it goes for on retired market?

Capt. LOUIS Renault: "I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here."

Croupier: "Your winnings, sir."

Capt. LOUIS Renault (after throwing bottle of Viche Water in the garbage): "Someone has shot Major Strasser . . . Round up the usual suspects."

Its my favorite movie of all time.

It's so popular that I bet a K&C SL set of the main characters and the front of the Cafe would sell quite well. How about suggesting this to Andy?
It would certainly go with the North Africa series.

Randy

Andy has heard this cry before.........
