Last night, September 26, 2013 was Mariano Rivera's final appearance in a Yankee uniform at Yankee Stadium as he is retiring this year. The call to the bullpen came in the 8th inning for the sure to be unanimous selection for the Hall of Fame.

In the bottom of the ninth Mariano was removed from the game. Normally, this would be done by the manager but yesterday, in his final appearance, his long time teammates, Andy Pettitte and Derek Jeter took him out of the game to the cheers and a prolonged standing ovation of over 46,000 people.

That was awesome, extremely well done by all involved.

Mo was, is and always will be a class act, a true professional and a monster of a closer, lights out, sure thing, done deal, end of story.

In a lot of ways, it's sad to see the Yankee icons of the past dozen or so years retiring one by one, have to wonder what this team will be like going forward.
