I only caught about half of the first episode, but those of us who miss "True Detective" might have found a quality show worthy to replace it. Top notch cast. Some are well known like Billy Bob Thorton but there are also many good character actors.

I have enjoyed the first two episodes quite a bit. Very true to the whole concept of the movie. Weird characters and events abound. Violence, too. Well worth watching. -- Al

I saw the first one and thought it was excellent. I've taped the second but haven't watched it yet.

In the first one, that woman had what was coming to her although the remedy was a little extreme.

This series started in the UK on Sunday and it was a promising start.

Not sure about Martin Freeman's American accent.....I kept picturing him in "The Office" with Ricky Gervais which I think aired in the US as well?

I still haven't figured out how Billy Bob got out of the basement without being seen. -- Al

I like Billy Bob a lot, but his character is a bit over the top. I can't imagine you would be in the hit man business long if you went around killing cops and leaving your fingerprints all over the place. Maybe he is partially a figment of Lester's imagination.

Watched the first episode yesterday, very good. I,ll give the above scenerio a little leeway in regards to being a bit over the top. As much as I enjoyed The Sopranos, the same thing applied. Barney Fife must have been the police chief in The Sopranos, not being able to solve all those crimes.

Like the series although it,s getting a little confusing trying to follow the story lines.
At the begining credits it says "This is a true story". It,s not! They just put that line in for effect.
Love the accents on the charectors although if I was from that region it kind of makes everyone look somewhat "simple".

This is just getting better. One twist after another that seems to dovetail into the story line. Great writing. And I have always wondered what happened to the money Steve Buscemi hid by the fence in the movie. -- Al

I didn't catch that connection, but it's been years since I watched the movie. Maybe it's time to do so again. I like the show and Billy Bob, but find it a bit farfetched in parts.

I agree the story line is far fetched, but it certainly is entertaining. I just throw out reality and take it for what it,s worth.
And as you pointed out, Billy Bob is worth the price of admission!

Agreed, Fargo's been a great fill-in while waiting for the Walking Dead to return. Bates Motel is okay, Turn is disappointing waste of time.

He's had so many great one liners I've lost count, he's been terrific in this series so far.

Another terrific episode tonight. Getting better and better. Billy Bob is an evil genius. That cop needs to get his act together. Brotherly love certainly isn't the theme of this episode. :rolleyes2: -- Al

Well, one more day to the season 1 finale. If a viewer didn't already dislike Lester, the last episode sure would have changed all of that. He is a real @**, who deserves anything that happens to him at this point. Although he more or less kicked off this whole line of events by accident, there was nothing accidental about his behavior as the story unfolded and especially in the last episode where he is directly responsible for more death, all through his own deliberate actions. I'm real interested to see whether they wrap season 1 up as a whole story line unto itself, or whether it is carried over into another season with the same basic characters. -- Al

I thought the last episode was one of the better ones. The elevator scene and the one with Bill Bob talking to the kids about the murders taking place in their house was classic. Old Lester is a real piece of work. Interesting to see how he talks himself out of this one. I've tried to avoid reading any spoliers - so don't have a clue if they intend to pick this up for another season. My guess is that it's one and done. I can't imagine these actors dedicating the time to another full season of TV shows. And it wouldn't be the same without them.

Lester is one piece of garbage, no doubt about it. "It freezing out there, put this jacket on"........"Oh and put the hood up, I don't want you getting sick on me."

Wow, talk about a person with no soul.

SPOILER ALERT....................................I read on line that next season will feature all new characters set in the same location.

And if BBT does not win an Emmy, I give up; "Yes or no?".............."Yes or no?"

He is just awesome.

That scum Lester set his wife up back at the house when he told her not to bring a winter coat, leaving his as the only option. I don't know how this is all going to end but I truly hope Thornton gets to bring a little joy to Lester's life. Ol' Lester just had to poke the bear. -- Al

The finale was another corker, with the usual body count. This show has been top-flight entertainment from beginning to end and what an ending it was. Had me wondering right to the end who was going to buy the farm. Well, the right person made the top bid and left a gift to wrap up the story. A very satisfying ending to a terrific show. -- Al
