The finale was another corker, with the usual body count. This show has been top-flight entertainment from beginning to end and what an ending it was. Had me wondering right to the end who was going to buy the farm. Well, the right person made the top bid and left a gift to wrap up the story. A very satisfying ending to a terrific show. -- Al

I know I'll be in the minority on this one, but I did not like the whole Gus/Malvo dynamic.

So Gus lies in wait and ambushes Malvo, basically executes him; don't get me wrong, I am sure if he had the chance Malvo would have taken Gus out, but that was a fairy tale. It's ok for someone to execute an unarmed person and an ex cop at that, that was too goofy for my taste.

But Lester was a different story; adios you scumbag.

Great episode, but I agree the ending was a bit anticlimactic and silly. I would have wrapped it up with Lester getting the news that Malvo was dead and thinking he was in the clear. Then end it with the mute hitman paying him a visit. I'm torn on another season. My only criticism of this show is that it pushed the boundaries of disbelief with Malvo. I'm not sure how much further they can take it before it becomes impossible to sustain.

As I posted earlier on this thread, I just tossed reality out the window, and just sat back and enjoyed.
I believe I read where this will have a second season, but with all the main charectors gone it will be interesting.

Anyone else notice how often wolves showed up in this show and actually were directly involved in the demise of Malvo? It was a wolf that stopped Gus dead in the road and lead to his seeing Malvo's car/hideout and maybe the same wolf that Malvo was distracted by as he sat in the hideout while Gus snuck up on him. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. -- Al

I thought the actor doing the best with that accent was the guy who played Lester. I just read he is from England! He is like the guy who played Capt. Winters in BOB, he too was from England.

I only watched about thirty minutes of the first episode. Not my thing.

I noticed but didn't quite understand the connection. Earlier in the season Malvo mentioned the Romans being raised by wolves as the basis of their cruelty. He seemed to be the wolf, though, in the context of the show. So it's hard to understand why the wolves would be involved - even symbolically - in his demise. I did think it was interesting that the FBI agent kept asking whether this was all a dream. The plot had a dream like quality to it. But perhaps that is overthinking it. Like the zombie shows maybe it's sometimes better to take them for what they are.

I poked around on the various Internet articles. Came across a couple of semi-interesting things that I missed. First, the riddle Gus mentions before shooting Malvo references the question Malvo put to him earlier in the show regarding why humans can see so many variations of the color green. The answer apparently being that the human eye evolved to detect predators in the wilderness. Second, the car salesman in the final episode is the same guy who Lester was trying to sell insurance to in the first episode. He is also seen with his wife in the diner after the murder of Lester's second wife. He says hello to Lester on his way to the restroom. Third, the story that Lester is told when being released from custody about the guy dropping one glove on the platform and then realizing it throws the other out the window. At least one explanation is that they were releasing Lester in order to draw out Malvo and arrest the pair of them.

I still haven't figured out how Malvo escaped from the basement following the murder of Lester's first wife. Maybe I just missed something. It certainly added to the dream like quality of the show.
