Welcome to the latest Jump The Gunn Newsletter, February 2026 figures are now here for all to see, these should be available end of this week for dispatch.

As always we start off in historical order, so let's start off with the new Romans available next week.....

The Romans
ROM186 Roman Legionnaire With Pony and Shield with 2 Pilum.

If it was not fighting the barbarian horde, the Legion, as with military service, saw much of the time spent on day-to-day duties, and we are now representing this through some ‘Camp’ focused figures, with legionnaires going through their everyday lives and duties. There will be further figures, both human and animal, to follow in 2026 to add to the scene of everyday Roman Legion life.

This set includes Roman Legionnaire, wrapped in a cloak, a shield, 2 Pilum and his trusty beast of burden.

Priced at $99/£91.50

The 28th of Foot North Gloucestershire Regt
Raised in 1694, the 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot was a line regiment of the British Army. This is a new regiment for Thomas Gunn, and the 28th Regiment has a long history. Being in the front line from the late 1600s through to the late 1800s, when it was then amalgamated with the 61st (South Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot to form the Gloucestershire Regiment.

In 1801, the regiment formed part of the British expeditionary force that landed in Egypt to oppose Napoleon's Army. On 21st March 1801, during the Battle of Alexandria, French cavalry broke through the British lines, formed up behind the regiment, and charged. Still heavily engaged to their front, the order was given "Rear Rank, 28th! Right About Face", and standing thus in two ranks, back to back, the regiment successfully defended itself. After the battle, the regiment began wearing a badge on the back as well as the front of the headdress to commemorate their action, a unique distinction in the British Army that was officially sanctioned in 1830.

The regiment was involved throughout the Napoleonic wars. Fighting in Denmark in 1807, landing in Portugal in 1808, taking part in the Battle of Corunna on 16 January 180, before being evacuated from the peninsula the next day, with a detachment remaining behind and fought at the Battle of Talavera in July 1809. The remainder of the regiment went on to take part in the disastrous Walcheren Campaign in 1809.

Returning to the Peninsula in 1810. The regiment saw action at the Battle of Barrosa, the Battle of Albuera and the Battle of Arroyo dos Molinos in 1811. In 1813 the regiment fought at the Battle of Vitoria and the Battle of the Pyrenees, then pursued the French Army into France and fought at the Battle of Nivelle and the Battle of the Nive. Followed by the Battle of Orthez and Battle of Toulouse in 1814.

The regiment was one of the many Peninsula veteran regiments which were available for the 100 Days campaign and fought at the Battle of Quatre Bras and the Battle of Waterloo, as part of the 8th Brigade commanded by James Kempt, in June 1815. Because of its actions in this campaign, the regiment earned a distinguished mention in the dispatches of the Duke of Wellington.

Collectors have a wide choice of Napoleonic battles and conflicts, from Egypt, the Low Countries, the Peninsula War and the 1815 campaign.

A big thank you to John O'Brien in Australia who aided and abetted with these figures and the guys at the Armoury of St James in London!

NAP064. Sergeant with Pike
In the British Army of the Napoleonic era, the sergeant's pike, officially known as a spontoon or half-pike, was a 7 to 9 foot polearm and was not only a vital weapon, but also a tool of command. It was standard for sergeants of the Centre Companies and Foot Guards. At the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, Colour Sergeant Switzer of the 32nd Foot famously used his spontoon to impale a French officer who was trying to seize the regimental colours.

Priced at $50/£45.

The Zulu War

A return to the Zulu war with a vengeance with over 15 new figures planned for this year!
A long time ago in a far off universe we made some Redcoats firing downwards from a British wagon made by Britain's, these were very popular and sold out very quickly. Since then JJD have added their excellent looking wagons to the mix, we now decided that it was time for a makeover and have remade these figures. This time with improved painting and in shirt sleeve order, which means they can be from just about any Regiment or branch of service that fought in the campaign.

SFA057 comprises 2 Riflemen in Shirt Sleeve, kneeling firing down.
They look great as a pair or can be used to complement our previous release of 2 Standing Firing figures [SFA70]
Priced at $85/£79.

There is some artistic licence here with these figures, in that we have based most of the uniform and equipment worn from the 'Zulu' film but have swapped the white pith helmets for a dyed version, in order that these figures will fit in with the remainder of our range.

Once again a big thank you to Toby and George at The Armoury, if you are in London, pop by their shop as it is an Aladdin's cave of wonders for all of you interested in military history.
Their website is as follows:

SFA063 Colour Sergeant Bourne with a Bayonet and some guts behind it.
Bourne enlisted at 17. By age 23, he was promoted to Colour Sergeant, making him one of the youngest to hold that rank in the British Army, earning him the nickname "The Kid".
During the Rorke's Drift battle against 3,000–4,000 Zulu warriors, Bourne was in the thick of the action, directing fire and distributing ammunition. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) for "outstanding coolness and courage". He was offered an immediate commission after the battle, but declined due to a lack of family finances. He eventually accepted a commission in 1890. After re-joining for WW I, he retired for the second time in 1919 with the honorary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and was awarded an OBE. Bourne was the last surviving defender of Rorke's Drift, passing away on May 9, 1945—the day after VE Day—at the age of 90.

Priced at $50/£45

Rif Warriors
The "Rif Warriors" were the Berber tribesmen who fought against the colonial powers in Morocco. They were known for their fierce fighting skills, marksmanship, and ability to move undetected in the difficult mountain terrain. The Rifian forces consisted mainly of tribal militia who wore ordinary clothes (often djellabas) rather than uniforms. On the head was worn a small cap or turban, the style of the latter varying between the tribes. Following on from these first 4 warriors, will be cavalry, an Iman urging his followers onto meet the 72 virgins waiting for them in heaven and some charging Rif.
