Ferdinand VII (2 Viewers)

Hi Brad,

probably no connection to the Wittelsbach which was more of a blue white lozenge field emblem typical of Bavarian heraldry.

here is a detailed listing of the honours worn by Ferdinand
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_VII_of_Spain

He probably didn’t wear all his orders all together. In this portrait, clearly identified is the order of the Golden Fleece, order of Charles III (with blue white sash), order of Isabella the Catholic and (probably) military order of st Ferdinand. The iconography on this last order is not clear in the ptg.

True, they used the Rautenmuster for banners and in some heraldic devices, but their colors were white and blue, and also used in things like sashes, banners, uniform lace, cockades, when they came to be used, etc. But I see it was a native Spanish order, instituted by Charles III. I haven't found anything yet about the significance of the colors.

Prost!

I'm developing the throne scene for Ferd. Resculpted the griffin table leg again.

Hi Brad,

I put the chair there for context. I am sculpting a new chair for this piece, more in keeping with the table design. Those heads are taken from the 1/72 Fujimi Aircraft crew set..

Added eyelids and a nose job for Ferd. More work on the throne and the box and frame are being fabricated.

I finally made castings of my griffin. Got to do some cleanup but these will form the table legs

A good modeller friend dropped by and persuaded me to carry on posting on the other projects.
So I spent some time to remove unwanted material from the back of these castings as a start.

I finally cleaned up and repaired all the castings. These have been assembled into a table with a pillow and crown being sculpted.
The scene has been assembled into the box and a bkgd has been formed from cardbd. Some under structure has been created for the drapery

I ptd the bkgd and when completed, will add on the drapery in stages

Painted the bkgd. Now setting the stage. Sections of cardbd wood were added to provide structural support for curtains. Notice two pieces of wood glued to the sides to provide support for the stage which will be slotted in later.

Started on sculpting a crown on a pillow. This item will be placed on the table.

I built up the throne drapery and also fabricated a column for this scene. Sculpted the throne and decided to redo the forehead of Ferdinand.

Thx. Needed to overcome the inertia as so many aspects of modelling to cover in making 3D shadow boxes.
the throne has been undercoated with acrylics. I’m running out of humbrols and I have a considerable amt of unused acrylic paints.

Hi GH,

another surreptitious project in between the merriment. I repainted the scene and built up the crown.
