Hi, I am completely new to collecting and saw some K&C figures in a shop window and decided to buy one. It turns out that these were their "Fields of Battle" set, what does this mean?:confused::confused::confused: I am seeing limited figures in this set. I'm wondering if I should have bought a specified conflict, such as D-Day or Market Garden. What are the pros and cons to buying the specific operations/theaters vs "Fields of Battle"?

Hi Private Ryan and welcome to the forum. Fields of Battle is a whole range of its own, focusing on earlier and less covered subjects than the others. So far its included Battle for France,Dunkirk and a set from the Battle of Britain. Its an excellent range, very popular and is just as collectable as the other main ranges, looking forward to more releases for this range in the future.

private ryan...

welcome to the forum. The fields of battle is the name K&C gave to the western front campaign 1940 ish with early german, french and british forces.

There is no right or wrong theatre to collect or not just buy what you like some buy across the ranges (as german forces the WSS range can be used in many theatres and battles spanning from west east and south into Italy) others focus on specifics like the battle of the bulge german and american forces or the desert theatre. Its the great thing about the hobby there is no right or wrong answer your own tastes will guide you to what you want to buy.

Thanks for the help, also, how would I know what conflict/battle my figures are? Or is it a mish-mosh of figures that would all be historically accurate in those battles? Because on the K&C site it just says Fields of Battle.

Well so far almost all the figures have been for the Battle of France/Dunkirk, it also states in lots of the leaflets and collector magazines which battle the figures are from, check all literature from K&C.All figures are also numbered so indentification of range is very easy.

Robs right the K&C site will tell you a good bit but, if you want to know where your troops are from in say fields of battle range the BEF did not strike deep in france and belgium so, its easy enough to pic up an osprey title or similar to see where they were. The french troops well. they can be used in probably most areas. The naval forces of the british ventured in land but again were predominantly at the coastal areas.

It all depends how deeply you want to address a battle and, how historically accurate you wish to be

Welcome... FOB range is a great range of the early war period dealing with mostly British French and Germans. Some of the sets from this range are really fantastic. My focus in collecting is basically all of WWII so I try and have some sets from all the ranges. I don't try and complete just one, but that's just me.

There are many great vehicles in this series but most are retired at this point. The secondary market hunt is the only option for the Char B, Renault R-35, Vickers tankette, Universal carrier. There are also some great German vehicles that are 1940 time period such as the Mk.1, Mk.2, Mk.4, Stug.III. These are all in early war gray. I think Mk.4 and Stug.III are still available at retail, but the mk.1 and 2 are secondary market only. These are great vehicles and worth the hunt. -- Al
