Rick asked me to post these photos for Figarti Miniatures. Posting photos from China is very tedious because of the current slow internet connections. In my opinion, the background looks a little dark or they need more lights. What do forum members think?:)

One of the new LVTs. It looks like they used more light for these photos. Unfortunately, the driver hatch does not open up, but look at the modeled welds on the armor plating.

I think they're good photos (a heck of a lot better than I could dream of doing), but, if they're for the website, The first photo of the whole vehicle could be much closer up.

I don't see much point in having a black background taking up half of the available photo, when you could get close up of the whole vehicle.

And I agree, it is a little dark. Dramatic, but I don't think shows off the vehicle as well as it could.

Steven:

I think your pictures are excellent! The backround is subtle, and does not

distract from the image of the boat. More light might cause a glare or create

shadows that might distract the viewer.

Your images are crystal clear, and provoke the interest of the viewer.

I am by no means an expert in photography, but I enjoy it, and have

professional Nikon 35mm and Digital equiptment.

I think you did a great job, and would like to know what equiptment you

used?

Please don't tell me it was your phone cam!!!

Well, I guess what works for one, doesn't necessarily work for another.
Hedge your bets and do both light and dark photos. :D

Steven:

I forgot to ask, what are the Patrol Boat, and the LTV's constructed of?

Also are the LTV treads movable or static?

Thanks

Dear John,

Thanks for the praise, but I did not take the photos. There are "official photos" taken by Figarti using a dark background. Along with many forum members on this forum and Toy Soldier Chat, I have been telling Rick that their past photos poorly displayed their products and made it hard for collectors to see the detail. K&C has a standard light grey background while Patriot has a standard red one. I think Figarti should try some lighter backgrounds, even the light blue used by Scale Modeler magazine.:)

The main hull of the boat and body of the LVT is polyresin, with metal detail pieces added. The LVT treads flex (more than 100 separate links joined by pins on each side) but you cannot push the LVT along a table and expect the treads to move in a circle.:)

Steven:

Thanks, I for one am quite excited about the new releases, and cannot wait

to have them in my hand to inspect and enjoy. I will be sure to post my

opinions of the pieces which I already give high marks to, for design, and

touching on areas, of interest!

Imo the photos are a bit to artistic and are similar to the Honour Bound pics but with a fraction more light. The best examples of good manfacturer photography I have seen are from K & C that nearly always shoot their products to maximise their appearance. You really need at least two light sources, preferably three, to cut down the shadow effect.

OK OZ, you're hired (VP- Photography)!

Carlos's photot above, for me, backs up what Oz was saying. Plenty of light and filling up the photo with the product, gives the viewer a good sense of what it is they are purchasing. Looks very cool by the way.
