Has anyone read the book "Fighter Boys" by Patrick Bishop? I've been wanting to learn more about the Battle of Britian and have been thinking about getting it.

Bill,

What would your recommendations be on BoB?

Well the problem here is trying to limit the list but I would certainly not miss
First Light by Geoffrey Wellum
Narrow Margin by Derek Wood and Derek Dempster
The Most Dangerous Enemy A history of the Battle of Britain
By Stephen Bungay
Fighter by Len Deighton

Some of my other favorites include:
The Battle of Britain Then and Now Mark V Edited by Winston G. Ramsey
Len Deighton's Battle of Britain
The Last Enemy by Richard Hilary
The Few: Summer 1940 by: Philip Kaplan & Richard Collier
An interesting alternative if you really like Dowding (which I do) is
Dowding and Churchill, The dark side of the Battle of Britain, by Jack Dixon

Thanks Bill. Speaking of Deighton, have you read Goodbye Mickey Mouse?

Don't forget Battle Over Britain by Francis K. Mason. Done in a documentary style, it provides a day by day account. Has a color ills section of aircraft, and Luftwaffe unit insignia. Day by day losses, personel lists, etc. Also includes a brief history of the first BoB in WW1. A very useful and essential book for BoB fans. -- lancer
