There were two manufacturers that caught my eye this year at the show in Wilmington: Monarch Regalia in gloss and Figurine Emporium in matt.

Figurine Emporium is located in the US, but sells figures painted in Russia. A number of their figures come from the Sineus Studio (http://www.sineus.spb.ru/).

Responsible for the selection of the figures, quality control, import and sales of the figures is the owner of Figurine Emporium, Aleksey Dyakov, here discussing the quality of a AWI figure with a member of the Forum:

The figures caught my eye because they
(i) cover interesting ranges (like Valley Forge for the AWI, 1777/78) or the Battle on the Ice (Lake Peipus, 1242).

(ii) are in excellent poses covering action as well as quiet time;

(iii) are well priced compared to other Russian figures.

I would like to provide more details on the two lines I mentioned above: Valley Forge and Lake Peipus.

The "Battle on the Ice" is the battle of the Teutonic Knights at Lake Peipus in Eastern Europe in 1242 For details, I may refer to the excellent book "The Teutonic Knights - A Military History" by William Urban who used the opening of archives in Eastern Europe to Western historians to redefine the history of the Teutonic Knights. Or for those who just want to cover the action: The Osprey title "Lake Peipus 1242" from the Campaign series.

(Model by Figurine Emporium around 1,500$)

Again playing with my new Ken Osen diorama, before Napoleon with his "Great Army" and the "GROEFAZ" ("Greatest Commander-in-Chief of all Times") marched into Eastern Europe, it was, amongst others, admittedly, the Teutonic Knights who severely influenced the Eastern European history through occupation (also called "Christianization" or "liberation" or "Civilizing the Pagans"). Aleksey told me that his favorite movie is still "Aleksandr Nevskiy" (1938) by Eisenstein.

In short, I really like the choice of knights (from both sides of the conflict) and encourage you to have a look at the website.

Having said that, the complaints that we all get a lot is that of quality control. I think this will also be a challenge for Figurine Emporium. I therefore encourage you to either buy at a show or ask for a photo in advance of the figure you would like to buy.

Well, and here is my latest acquisition, my first figure from Figurine Emporium:

Now for the Revolutionary War Buffs amongst us :D - Valley Forge.

I was very disappointed by the selection/photos on the website. But the samples that were shown at the show I did like. Most of them are based on three to four basic soldiers and then the "winter" clothing is added to individualize the soldiers.

But ultimately, it all depends on the selection of the figures to create the effect that you are looking for. It appears, though, as if this company produces enough variations that make it possible to have a very nice set of marching AWI soldiers in Valley Forge:

... and now on to Monarch Regalia ... :eek:

I've checked out Figurine Emporium before and the have some nice products.I was thinking about having them make me a winter base like the one they have for the AWI.

I may point out that Paulo had mentioned them to me before I met their owner at the show.

Hi Andanna,

Thanks for sharing this info! The Battle on the Ice series looks amazing! I wish they did some Winged Hussars!

Did you pick up a few?

All the best

Dave

Hi,
These figures look very nice, thanks for the excellent photos and congrats on your latest buy. Nothing like seeing them live at a show, right?

Regards,
Paulo

Paulo, you see mine at the bottom of post #2. I think it is a great figure.

They are nice figures, especially the knights. Their Napoleonics are a bit on the tall side for me, taller than K&C by a bit. My understanding is that they are dropping the Napoleonic line.

Here is a shot we did for them. More info on our Web Site. Alex

Thank you Andanna for posting the pics and providing details of the wonderful looking figures from the Figurine Emporium. In fact I have already emailed Aleksky, and he has already responded with some information. I ordered a figure from him from a picture on his website (thanks for the link!). He said he was currently out of stock, but that he would have the figure made. I'm hoping his figures will fit in nicely size-wise with Aeroart figures. From the photos you provided, they certainly do look to be of similar quality to Aeroart figures. I ordered a Teutonic Knight foot figure, and I'm looking forward to adding it to my collection! Thanks again for all the fine pics and info! :)

Couldn't the tall ones be in a grenadier company?
Mark
On the numbers alone that would appear to work if you paired them with a light company. The seem a bit leggy and I have thought about chopping some of mine.

Very nice indeed! There are some Rus (Russian Vikings) warriors that look terrific!
:cool::cool:

Cheers...
