You are quite right about New Zealand - beautiful country and an impressive people. I read years ago that Rommel rated the New Zealanders as the best troops he fought against. I suspect that there are also some elderly German paratroopers who wake up at night bathed in sweat just thinking about them!
 
Funny, I have read similar quotes supposedly from Rommel about brit troops in france (early when he was nearly toast by a brit attack and at normandy) and the desert troops. I have also heard it about the canadians. I suppose its down to the historian using the comments correctly and his bias to a country that need to be taken into consideration.
