We are pleased to announce that First Legion has joined THE GREAT CRUSADE. I know you First Legionaries are a passionate bunch. We have just one problem. The Great Crusade is obviously about the Western Front, but we can touch on the Eastern Front in the storyline.

After some discussion with Matt, others and some research, it is not out of the question that the Stalingrad figures could be used in Western Front scenarios. Would you First Legionaries take offense to that concept, or do you have any suggestions. Alex

It will be interesting to see how the use of these figures pans out in the great crusade. After the reforming of the division in 43 after the mauling it got in russia it served briefly in the west and Italy before returning to the east. How do you envisage using the figures and the Ausf of the Panzer III's as some, have specific traits that came from fighting on the eastern front? If your going to touch on Russia in the story then there is no real problem. The great crusade may take a look at the early war!!!

I've already placed my Stalingrad figures and AFVs into western scenarios. Admittedly the picture which includes the grey Pz.III Ausf.J represents 24.Panzer-Division training in northern France in 1942 prior to leaving for the east. I've taken some artistic license with the 16.Panzer-Division Sd.Kfz.232 and ignored the unit emblem. This allows for a France '40 scene. The one true France '44 scene I have created featured an Honour Bound Panther with an FL crewman.

I don't see a problem incorporating the German figures, with the exception of the guys packing Soviet gear (i.e. PPSh-41). I don't think the vehicles can work for 1944 though. There were a few Pz.IIIs kicking around (i.e. Panzer-Kompanie Mielke which was part of Kampfgruppe Knaust during Market Garden) with various armored units but I would be surprised to find any of them in grey.

This is the other side of the historically correct vs generic AFVs and figures debate. As the model becomes more historically correct, it limits the variety of scenarios it fits into. I just ignore the unit symbols but try and make sure that type of AFV existed in that colour in the place and time period the scenario is in. With FL AFVs having been produced for only a short time, choice is limited and many of the AFVs have Eastern Front or Afrika Korps specific features or camo. So making a Western Europe scene with just FL AFVs can be very difficult. It would be a lot simpler if Matt produced the Tiger in a Western configuration and a scenario could be built around that AFV.

Gentlemen

Thanks for your input so far, and keep it coming.......By the way great pictures Frank, and a good job in taking out the figures bases ( A must in dioramas )

Nick and I are weak on the Eastern Front, the more we research we realize our strength really lies with the Americans from D-Day to the Breakout, and the Battle of the Bulge. So we appreciate your input very much. Developing TGC has become a very rewarding learning experience for us. Those who follow us and are using TGC as a learning tool are counting on us to be accurate.

We never envisioned that TGC would be considered to be a learning tool, but we have gotten a lot of feedback from historians, veterans organizations and museums who are ecstatic about the format, noting its accuracy and simplicity.

We take that challenge very seriously, and we will do our best to be as accurate as possible. We are honored to be recognized by these groups and we are honored to carry the flag of this noble hobby into these venues.

Sincerely

Alex & Nick

While this is a great addition to the list of sponsors from the hobby unless your going to address the russian front specifically its hard, for me, anyway to see where the panzers will be used in the time frame you address. Yes many regiments trained on the Panzer II and III before moving to other units. but, grey Panzer III's had their last big outing during the Kharkov battle and in the surrounding areas. There a mix of grey and panzer yellow vehicles from a variety of Heer and SS formations were heavily used, some non wintered some wintered.

Is it your plan to move the great crusade to the east, a seperate crusade or, a combination?

That is the purpose of this thread.......We will wait for more input and then we will act on it. Right now we are up in the air concerning this issue. TGC is becoming a Monster of a project, but Nick and I are digging in and ready to rock. We welcome your suggestions on all aspects of the project. Alex

As much as I'd like to see Western Front figures, I.E. Arnhem, I'd like to see the Stalingrad line move forward.
It seems as this line has slowed down where as other lines have moved forward at a greater speed. IMO, I'd like to see this Stalingrad line move forward before we start to move in other directions. There's still lot's of ground to cover for Stalingrad.

Not really bothered about the why's and wherefore's just glad that stuff like this is being done
Mitch

I am glad you all asked these questions.

Our Sponsors give us a little break to ease the burden of the vast amount of products needed to produce TGC.

TGC has 3 purposes
1- Promoting the hobby as a whole
2- Honoring our Veterans
3- Teaching History

Figarti has our pics on their Website and check the banners at Chicago. We also do most of them.
We have also done Displays for Figarti for the past 3 years

Frontline uses our photos for ads

Conte will have a special promotion coming out in January

There are other confidential projects in the works

Toy Soldier and Model Figure Magazine will have a huge article coming out in a few days on our SUPPORT FOT THE HOBBY

Armchair General did an article on us in the last issue to SUPPORT THE HOBBY

We do a limited amount of displays for private clients.

Manufacturers give us the ball and we take the message of our hobby to other venues on our own. We are in contact with other Forums, Museums, Historical Societies etc. Ads in magazines basically provide info to those who know about the hobby already, we strive to reach beyond that.

Our posting here is basically for entertainment, because all of you know about the products already.

We worked hard to secure all of the manufacturers in this effort, to keep an even playing field, a few declined. We did the best we could. This was important because we did not want to favor any one.

All of the other EXCELLENT Diodramas done here stay her., Our Mini Series we have taken out there. So we need to acknowledge those who support us and bring info to those who dont know about the hobby. This is tough going, breaking into other markets and interests.

So in the end all when those who do not understand us critizise us...Yes we get VERY mad and we defend ourselves vigorously. I dealt with 500 formidable Firefighters in my career, I am not going to let anyone tarnish our good work here or anywhere else. I think many don't understand us because they are money and profit based. Nick and I are retired with pensions, this is a passion for us.

There is very little revenue, Nick and I just love the hobby and want to see it thrive. .........Alex

This may not be the place for this...........but there is no place for this......Lets lay our cards on the table, there is a tension between this Forum and BSP......A tension that exists nowhere else but here.......Honestly...... we think we know what it is, but we are not sure.....We seek nothing more that peace and fun with our hobby, but for whatever reasons that is hard to come by when it comes to BSP and Treefrog. Like I said we are pretty sure we know what it is and we will NOT change. So you will deal with us, or we will eventually be expelled. But we do sleep well at night.

So if you are plotting against us for whatever sick or monetary reasons you have, in hopes that we loose our sponsors, and The Great Crusade becomes a failure, so be it...........Because that will only exist here, and we will do it on our own if we have to............... For those of you who might have these intentions........You CAN NOT take us down. Alex

Alex –
Over the past several years you have sounded a common refrain (on this and other forums): Treefrog is against us, but BSP will prevail!

Frankly, I have no idea what you are talking about. Can you demonstrate one time when we at Treefrog Treasures did ANYTHING to try to make BSP a ‘failure?’ We have provided you a FREE platform to get the word out about your projects. You have benefited greatly from the exposure that we provided for you and your website.

When BSP was just in its infancy, you showed a lot of pictures. Many people really liked them and told you so…some did not and told you so. You have continued to use the Treefrog Forum as a place to show what you and Nick are doing. Some people love it. Others don’t. This is the way public forums work. As long as you stay within the rules of the forum, you are free to post your work in the future.

You make it sound like Treefrog is part of a vast conspiracy to ‘take you down.’ Nothing could be further from the truth. Whether BSP is a rousing success or not (or whether people like your work or not) has nothing to do with our business here at Treefrog.

Delete the post.... I dont want to go over this ground again

Alex -

You have been quite public in your accusations that Treefrog is against you. I would like it to be just as public that you cannot name one time when Treefrog attempted to 'undermine' BSP.

We have provided you with an audience for your projects and haven't charged a dime. That doesn't sound like undermining to me.

Yes we have been attacked time and time again, not by you or Shannon, but by others who crawl around this Forum you graciously provide, who have agendas. We actually know what it is all about. I will just describe it as politics, and leave it at that. We try to keep our cool but at times it gets out of hand.

You also mentioned we had conflict on Toy Soldier Chat.....You are correct .....That had to do with us telling them. To keep a Forum going members had to participate. We brought a ton of attention to that forum and tried to keep it alive.....They fought us on that, they did not agree and now it is gone. We are the non political good guys here, we will continue to entertain here, but we will stand up for ourselves when attacked.......WOW all for Toy Soldiers....What a shame................... I still say pull this nonsence. Call me and I will explain what I cant explain in public. I have no problem with you

Thank you for clarifying. From the way you've been phrasing things, it's sounded like we at Treefrog were the ones that 'opposed' you, when it's really just been a member or two.

If you feel that you have been unfairly attacked on our forum, the best thing to do is to report the post to the mods to look into. There is a little triangle at the bottom of each post. Click on that, explain the situation, and the mods will act if they feel action is needed.

Thank you ...I am glad you understand......I would get rid of all of this because it does none of us any good. Alex

BTW what happened with the Toy Soldier Chat?

Lack of participation I guess. It was a peaceful forum and I enjoyed it, but as you saw they had a strange mentality. Many liked to watch, but few liked to participate, well that sort of does not work ? ! ? !......Maybe it will return...I dont know. I called Marc T. he didn't seem to know either.
