It seems the Russians are in need of either artillery or a T-43 to defend Stalingrad.....They are looking a little "under-gunned"....When will the re-enforcements arrive.;)

There was a Russian Artillery piece previewed in the article done on First Legion in issue # 31 of Toy Soldier collector a while back . I don't want to give anything away but since its published info. I don't think its a secret, I'll just say both the 4 man crew and the gun looked ready to do some damage. There was also another Russian anti tank weapon previewed which looks awesome . So it seems Russian reinforcements are coming ;) When ?? that's Matt's bomb to drop  I'm waiting too , but my wallet is enjoying the cease fire :) all the best Gebhard

Fair enough question. 8 out of the next 11 Stalingrad figures will be Russian including a 45mm AT Gun and Crew as well as some ATR Teams. Much more appropriate for this part of the battle that we're currently covering than tanks are unfortunately. So that makes 11 out of 16 figures Russian if you count the about to be shipped Russian Scouts and German Flamethrower teams. Should help even the odds a bit!

Fear not, lots more Russian "toys" will come as our coverage drifts towards the latter part of the battle as at that point, the situation is reversed and it's the Russians who are loaded. All in good time! Our Stalingrad range is a marathon, not a sprint! ;)

Best,

Matt

I don't think there were any T-43s at Stalingrad.

I believe that T-34 construction continued at Stalingrad factories during the battle. Some were sent into battle, unpainted, right as they rolled off the assembly line. I can't quote sources as this is just my memory of past readings. I am sure the T-34 experts on the forum will have the correct info. -- lancer

Production continued in Stalingrad until September 1942 I believe, not sure if there is any evidence or not about unpainted T34's rolling into action but these stories continue to this day.

Those are T-34s. Vezzolf was talking about the T-43, the intended replacement for the T-34. At least I think he was referring to the T-43.

As for unpainted t-34s rolling right off the assembly line into battle at Stalingrad, I think Lancer is correct. I have seen photos which claim to be of that scenario.

My apologies. He did reference the T-43. Evidently I can't read none to good. D'oh. -- lancer

Sorry Terry,I forgot that.Yes the T43 didn't make it to Stalingrad did it.

Rob

Yes the T43 didn't make it to Stalingrad did it.

Of course that shouldn't stop us from making one for Stalingrad though. Why let a little thing like historical reality get in the way! ;)

Why not just say that the series is the Stalingrad front instead of the city limits. T-34s were in the theater, and also Italians and Romanians. Just a thought.:D

To stay on the original topic, the T-43, it would be an interesting AFV to make if you get into the Kursk salient. The T-43 did get into combat 6 months after the end of Stalingrad at the Battle of Kursk at the big tank engagement at Prokhorovka. They were not a success and production was cancelled for the T-34/85 with the T-43 turret as the Russians medium tank and for the JS series of heavy tank. So at least a part of the T-43 (the turret) became part of a front line Russian tank from about early 1944.

If you do make one, as far as I can tell, they came in only 1 colour - olive green.

As someone who is probably seen as a Heritic and blasphemer by some of your customers....
Pity you think that way mate; I think most of us just think you are well meaning and sometimes misguided but free to enjoy your own preferrences.;) Of course, that is the way most of us feel when dealing the faithful of the "Greatest".

Yes I may have over egged it there Bill;).As I said to Matt I've had a crap day and was short on temper today:eek::(.

I know I go over the top sometimes when enthusiasm gets the better of me,but I assure you all I never set out to offend or upset anyone. If ever you feel I've gone to far, tell me,and I'll try and rein it in a bit;)

Sorry guys.... it was a typo....I meant T-34 soviet tanks (not T-43)....Anyway I'm hoping to see some russian tanks :)

Here is a photo of a T34/76 on the left and a T43/85 on the right. To make a T-34/85, just put the turret from the tank on the right onto the body of the tank on the left.
