First Legion: Soviet Forces of Stalingrad (1 Viewer)

Here is a photo of a T34/76 on the left and a T43/85 on the right. To make a T-34/85, just put the turret from the tank on the right onto the body of the tank on the left.

That seems to have been a great adaption. I understand that in addition to the larger gun it allowed for a seperate gunner, like most medium tanks of the period, significantly improving combat effectiveness. I hope I read that right, I am of course not a tank guy.:D

Yes, that's right. The only good thing about the T-43 was the turret which was designed for 3 men including a gunner. The big drawback with the T-34 was the 2 man turret where the tank commander had to double as the gunner, but the T-43 turret on the T-34 chassis, fixed that weakness.

Of course that shouldn't stop us from making one for Stalingrad though. Why let a little thing like historical reality get in the way! ;)

Matt how dare you !!!! Don't you know its not Historical reality getting in the way its called "making use of artistic license". :D Now your punishment is to make 20 versions of Hitler wearing Lederhosen reading an English map driving an Elefant at the BOB ;) sorry guys I could not resist,, all in good fun right :D All the best Gebhard

When FL has made more than 100 different AFVs with no historical errors, that may be the time to brag. One AFV does not confer any bragging rights. This too is all in good fun :D:cool:

I was not bragging . It was a little humor :) , To bad it was lost on you . But if your still around when they hit the 100 mark I'll drop you a line .:D

Fair enough but 1 with no errors is better than 100 with 1 error each nonetheless.;):D The good fun continued.:D:cool:

The T34/85 had better armour than the StugIII and the PzkwIV but was still not as good as the Panther, but there were considerably more T34's than Panthers.I also think it was the T34/85's turret hatches that annoyed Stalin as when they were both open at the same time they resembled Mickey Mouse's ears!.A symbol of Western decadence that reputedly irritated Joseph somewhat.

Whenever you look closely at the welding on the T34 you can clearly see how quickly these Tanks were turned out.As David Fletcher of the Bovington Tank museum said in the excellent series 'Tanks' it would 'make a German tank producer weep'.It really looks rough but it was built for 'blow and not for show',wonderful all round Tank and thoroughly deserving of its iconic status.

I believe I saw a preview off some russian figures and equipment in Toy Soldier Collector magazine? said due in Feb?

Does anyone know wether a Panzer IV short barrel or a Panzer III is "historically accurate" for the Battle of Stalingrad Series......Also Matt, What is the likely-hood that...we will see "cold weather" Germans and Soviets with long winter coats etc.

The Panzer IV long barrel or short barrel would be accurate for Stalingrad. The Panzer III would also work.

As Breaker has said, all are accurate for Stalingrad. And one of them is coming very soon. :D

Cold weather Germans and Russians? Absolutely. As I've said before, it's going to be a truly massive range of figures, vehicles, and accessories. We're really just getting warmed up and have some fantastic items coming. Once we get through some of the core items, we'll start to have some fun with the range.

A Panzer III Ausf.J with the long barreled 5 cm KwK 39 L/60 would be very welcome.

Hello Matt,
Is very nice to hear that from you, and see that this beautiful range is doing well. Superbe!

I am looking forward to see those winter rats.....:D

Best regards.

Rodrigo.

Wouldn't you rather have a IV F2 if you are going to take on a T-34?;)

I really like the look of the long barreled Panzer III but I wouldn't be disappointed with any historically relevant vehicles. :)

I hope some germans being shot , wounded, and dead are on the way  a nice two germans pulling a wounded third would be cool !!

I like your Idea of the two German soldiers pulling a wounded third , that is a Great idea IMO and I'd buy them so that makes two of us . I'd like to add some Russians poses of soldiers either dead or on their way to it . Would be interesting if they could somehow have a figure showing the effects of an explosion without getting to graphic , maybe in a strange position on one leg going backwards , or landing on his shoulder .I'd think It would be very hard to show and would be a big challenge for sculptors and the production process but would add realism to any display IMO . :) just a thought All the best Gebhard
