Nothing special here, except John's canoe sets.

I used the same Magic Water diorama and just took some photos of CAN01, CAN02 and CAN03.

Just not ready to take it down yet, lol.

Comparing all 3 sets, I'd say that IMHO the Jenkins Figures are steadily improving, the newest canoe figures are the best.
By the way;), wonderful diorama, it looks like a scene from «The Last of the Mohicans»;).

Michael

I love the way you have the Indians shouting from their canoe to the militia --a really nice touch.

Mike I really love what you did with that diorama! I,ve got another little thing for you to maybe give a try to make it look even better??? How about trying to make some moveable waves out of clay or 2 part putty to put under the canoes and under the paddles(oars)? Maybe paint them white or something or even add some clear epoxy with brush effects??? Something that you could move around so you can change up your dios as you wish.

I think this is something that Jenkins should even consider making, This would make your great diorama look even more realistic if you can figure out a way to pull it off? What do you think?

The dio certainly is one of the coolest one here without question. The canoes look equally as good as the whaleboats. Glad to see you having fun Mike and sharing it with us !!!

Looks great Michael! Im still waiting for Tree Frog to get that new JJD stuff in.

Thank you Paulo, Randy, Titus, Captain, Tim and Scott.

John has some really nice pieces here, anybody could make them look nice.

Tim, on the ripples or white water waves effects,

I had an option, when the resin had almost hardened to make something interactive with the paddles,

but they would have been permanent, making the floating vehicles stationairy in all future scenes.

You idea sounds good, "removeable waves made of clay".

I'm not sure I'm the guy to pull it off though, lol.:D

Dave Williams explained some advanced techniques over the phone, he might have some ideas, I'll call him.

Did you know that he makes those nice looking waterfalls on a sheet of wax paper, with clear silicone.

He measures the height, smears in on the wax paper with his fingers, lets it harden, peels it off and glues it from the top of the mountain to the river below.

Pretty cool technique.

I'm flattered too, he actually put my photos on his website.

Very nice Michael.

Can you tell us more about magic water: where you buy it, what you have to do, is it just transparent silicone with a painted bottom.

Thanks Tiger, thanks Russell,

Russell,

the "Magic Water" is sold at www.unrealdetails.com.

by Dave Williams,

269-468-7434.

It come in two bottle, Part A and B, which you mix 2 parts to 1 part and pour.

I sent Dave a link to this thread and to the Whaleboat threads, and he said,

"You can be assured that this dio will stay the way it is for a lifetime and wont lose its look. Thanks again for all your support. Your friend, Dave".

I believe him.

He says he carries his dioramas around in his car through heat and snow and they look like the day he made them.

I'm calling him tomorrow and ordering some more because I think I can do a lot better than my first attempt, and also because, he says he knows a guy what will make me scratch trees that are gorgeous, very cheaply and any size I want.

Call him, he will talk to you about his product, he's proud of it.

Tell him where you saw it, I would appreciate that.

Nice canoe's on the water Michael. I heard about using "Modpodge: on making small wakes and waves. I never tried it but some ship modelers use it. Maybe you can try a little on a scrap piece for a test on how it works. It sells at Michael's and is used in crafts. I don't know if this helps. John

Great dio Mike! Excellent reminds me of the canoe scene of the Last of the Mohicans!

Vick:D:D:D

Thanks Vick, thanks John,

Hey John,

I just googled it, it looks like some kind of white glue.

It may be over my head.

Terrains are my weakness:eek:, in fact, I don't have a stong suit:eek:, lol.

Wait, I take that back, I'm very good at buying soldiers, lol.

I may try to create some "churning" water with a tube of clear silicone on some wax paper.

Dave Williams said just smear it in long streaks with your finger and to cut it to size after it dries, then peel it off the paper and put it in place.

I'm at a standstill until I get some styroprene.

I had a 4 foot piece ready to do a Battle of Monongahela, but it wont be long enough.:mad:

I'll use that piece for the Jacobites or 1812.:D

I'm really waiting for the San Antonio show to buy some terrain, I hate buying stuff online that I have to decide from a small picture.

Mike,

I might consider picking some of this up for a Normandy bridge diorama! Do you mix it with paint to get the color, or are there different colors?

Vick

Make sure you post photos of your next project! I have always been interested in putting together a water project, and your terrific post was very helpful!:)
