FIW in Matte? (1 Viewer)

A couple of forum members and I were recently discussing how much we love the Britains Classics line and especially the FIW range that's a part of this line. We wished that Britains would do the FIW in matte in addition to the Classics glossy figures they make.

It was brought up that they currently produce both matte and glossies for the Zulu range and we wondered if Britains would do the same with the FIW range given the success the Zulu range has had being produced in both formats.

I believe the FIW Classics have been a big seller for Britains and the popularity has to be near that of the Zulu range. To have the FIW range follow suit with what's being done with the Zulu's seems like it would be a big hit. What does everyone else think?

I'll second that wish. With the recent release of the Museum Collection 42nd Highlander from the French & Indian War we have a good preview of what a matte series would look like. It agree that it makes a lot of sense to follow in the pattern of the dual releases of the Zulu War.

Sounds like a good idea to me :) maybe they could do the same with WW1 & return to the gloss!!! By doing both paint types we get the best of both worlds & those who only collect one or the other can have more choice on what era's they can get!!!

Sounds like a great idea to me,I`d pick them up.I start with JJD because they were the only one really doing them in matte. But I could change.Maybe cheaper to?
Cheers

I would be interested in these if they would be in action poses and would be spread out between both armies, not mostly British/Rangers.

It would be a very good idea, and Mr. Ken Osen has stated in this forum Britains are planning to do so;). It would be nice to have some action poses to complement the current Redcoats/Bluecoats marching or standing ones. I normally prefer gloss but I would enjoy some good matte FIW action figures. The Napoleonic Coldstream Guards and the British and French WWI figures are excellent so I would expect to get the same or better quality standards for FIW matte. I am already dreaming of some spectacular Woodland Indians, in a canoe for example:p.

I agree about adding FIW gloss action poses as WB has done with the Zulu series. So far the only gloss action examples are the Royal Artillery set and the 45th Regt. Grenadier

Hi All!
Thanks for the interest in this period. We will be adding some new sets and single figures to the Classic Gloss Redcoats/Bluecoats range in the upcoming catalog. We also have noted the requests for firing and action poses and are working this into the line list.
As we have added to this series we get more and more requests to add officers , NCOs and musicians and have put on our thinking caps to fill in the gaps before we spin off and do something else.
We also have heard the requests for other combatants in this conflict and we should be addressing that for later in 2009.

Matte?
Well, as someone else pointed out we are going to touch on this time period a bit more as we expand the Museum Collection to include units other than the 42nd. How much we co-develop this period with Gloss Redcoats/Bluecoats is still in discussion.
How would you like to see a Matte range developed if we did move in this direction?
Personally... I love this period and I would like to see it include more than just the military subjects and combat. But that is just my opinion and it might not be commercially viable. I can still hope though can't I?
All the Best!

To me, if you do small action sets in gloss like Britains once did with the Premier Series, and if you do some fighting Woodland Indians in gloss, I would settle for that, since I normally prefer gloss to matte, especially for these more colorful periods. But if you follow the Naps or WWI matte kind of line for FIW and leave classic marching/standing poses to gloss, I would probably try to get...BOTH!

Ken,
what you said up there is so true for myself. I would very much appreciate releases that show the life of people at that times, both Indians and Settlers. A Woodland Indian Camp, a settler's homestead, fortifications in modular style, which would allow displays according to space available and budget. Canoes, horse-drawn wagons, camps, traders, a lot of subjects possible.

I'll agree with you on that Konrad. I think your suggestions would make for some nice figures.

I'm very interested in the FIW period, actually I"m interested in the whole N.American period From Jamestown,Quebec to the end of the FIW but I'm interested only in Matte.
