I think it would be great to have some woodland Indian lacrosse players added to the Raid on St. Francis line of figures since John plans to include a native village as part of the collection. Lacrosse was frequently played by rival tribes during the French & Indian War. In 1758 a French expedition of Canadians and Indians was held up for a 2 day lacrosse tournament between Abenakis and Iroquois. The Indians considered the sport "the little brother of war."

The French gave the name "the cross" to the sport since the sticks used by the Indians resembled a bishop's crozier.

a very interesting idea..:)

I believe it's already been mentioned that Indian lacross players are in the works for future release. Something more to look forward to.

Excellent--where was this mentioned?

Sorry PB, I don't remember the sorce - but I believe it's buried somewhere on this forum. It came from either a members conversation with J.J. or reported in from one of his talks.

Great idea PB, especially when the game lacrosse was used as a ruse at least once in history for the indians to gain easy entry into a stockade of unsuspecting colonists and soldiers where upon they fell easy prey to the tomahawk.

I'll email John to see if he may already have a set of these in the works.
Mike I can see you using them to gain entrance to your fort:D

The search engine on this forum works very nicely. I just wish I knew how to carry a quote from one thread to another.

Anyway under SHOWS & SHOW REPORTS, the 2008 NY TOY SOLDIER SYMPOSIUM thread, post # 82 - Louis mentions J.J. showing him an impressive resin master of an Indian lacrosse player.

Thanks Dragoon-that is great news. I appreciate you detective work.
